    What is the format of the EXIN BCS Business Analysis exams?

    Both are closed-book, multiple-choice exams of 40 questions in 60 minutes. The Foundation exam uses single-answer questions on knowledge and comprehension; the Practitioner exam uses scenario-based questions that test applying BA techniques.

    What is the passing score for each exam?

    The pass mark is 65% for both exams, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. This applies equally to the Foundation and the Practitioner examinations.

    How many exams are in the combined programme?

    There are two separate exams: the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials, and the programme prepares you for each in sequence.

    Where can I take the exams?

    Online through EXIN's proctored exam system, or at an EXIN accredited testing location. Exams are usually arranged through the accredited training provider as part of the programme.

    What if I do not pass the first time?

    You can re-sit an EXIN exam. Re-sit policies and fees vary, so verify current terms with EXIN. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly.

    Which standard are the exams based on?

    Both follow the EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications, aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge and developed in partnership with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

    Course Content

    What topics does the course cover?

    The Foundation level spans 14 topic areas, from investigation techniques and stakeholder analysis to requirements and business cases. The Practitioner level covers seven applied topic areas assessed through realistic project scenarios.

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. The Foundation level has no prerequisites and is designed for those new to business analysis. The combined programme then builds you up to applying techniques at Practitioner level.

    What learning materials are provided?

    You receive EXIN BCS-aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies, and Foundation and Practitioner mock exams and practice questions to reinforce learning and build exam readiness.

    How long is the training?

    The combined programme runs for 32 hours, delivered as four full days or spread across more days depending on the schedule format. Foundation content is covered first, then Practitioner.

    Is the courseware aligned to the latest syllabus?

    Yes. The courseware aligns to the current EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.
