What the PMI-RMP Means for Risk Professionals in AngolaYour Specialist Route in Project Risk

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management, and PMI-RMP certification training in Angola prepares you to identify, assess and respond to risk across predictive, agile and hybrid projects. It is the credential that sets risk specialists apart from general project practitioners. Delivered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the certification is built on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022 and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. You learn to plan a risk strategy, identify threats and opportunities, run qualitative and quantitative analysis, design responses, and monitor and close risks through the project lifecycle. For professionals in Luanda and across Angola's energy, banking, mining and construction sectors, where multi-billion-dollar projects live or die on disciplined risk control, the risk discipline set out in the current January 2022 ECO is exactly what employers now expect. Start your PMI-RMP journey with Invensis Learning and turn uncertainty into a career advantage.

Employers in energy, banking, mining and construction increasingly want specialists who can govern risk on high-value, high-consequence work, from project risk analyst through to head of risk. Your Angola Career Transformation

From Risk Contributor to Certified Risk Leader

    Your Before and After Snapshot

Angola's project economy is expanding with energy investment, refinery builds and the Lobito Corridor, and employers increasingly separate certified risk leaders from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

How to Get PMI-RMP Certified in AngolaStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-RMP certification path in Angola is a pure exam track: once your PMI application is approved, you proceed directly to the 115-question, 150-minute exam administered through Pearson VUE , no peer-panel review is required. From initial training to exam day typically takes 6-10 weeks, including application processing.

    Step 1: Confirm PMI-RMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets. Set A: high school or secondary school diploma (or global equivalent) + 36 months / 3 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 40 hours of project risk management education. Set B: bachelor's degree or higher (or global equivalent) + 24 months / 2 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Set C: bachelor's degree or higher from a GAC-accredited program + 12 months / 1 year of project risk management experience within the past 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Education hours must be in project risk management topics specifically.

Step 2: Enroll in a Learning Program

Choose a learning format that aligns with your schedule and goals, such as a PMI-RMP bootcamp, live virtual sessions, self-paced learning, or corporate group training. Enrollment provides access to PMI-aligned courseware, practice assessments, and expert-led guidance.

Step 3: Register on the PMI Candidate Portal

Create or sign in to your PMI account at pmi.org. PMI membership (~$139/year) is optional but reduces the PMI-RMP exam fee from ~$670 to ~$520 and gives access to the PMI Risk Management Practice Guide and the PMI Standard for Risk Management.

Step 4: Submit the PMI-RMP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal: document your project risk management experience, list your 30 or 40 contact hours, and pay the application/exam fee (~$520 PMI member or ~$670 non-member). PMI typically processes applications within 5-10 business days. Unlike PfMP, no peer-panel review is required.

Step 5: Sit the 115-Question PMI-RMP Exam via Pearson VUE

Once approved, you receive a one-year exam eligibility window. Book your PMI-RMP exam through Pearson VUE , online proctored from your home or office in Angola, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is 115 multiple-choice and scenario questions over 150 minutes, covering all five risk management domains.

Step 6: Earn the PMI-RMP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PMI-RMP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 30 PDUs in risk-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

Skills You Will Master in the PMI-RMP ProgrammeMapped to the Five ECO Domains

This programme builds the five-domain risk capability the PMI-RMP validates, from strategy and identification through analysis, response and monitoring. By the end you can run project risk management end to end and sit the exam with confidence.

    Risk Strategy and Planning

You will learn to build a project risk approach that works: analysing project documents, confirming risk thresholds and appetite, and tailoring a risk management plan for predictive, agile or hybrid delivery. This is the foundation of the January 2022 ECO and the first 20% of the exam.

    Risk Identification

Facilitate structured identification using brainstorming, the Delphi technique, SWOT, assumption and constraint analysis and prompt lists. Learn to document risks in a clear cause-risk-effect format and validate the register for completeness across every project area.

    Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis

Prioritise risks with the probability and impact matrix, then apply Monte Carlo simulation, decision tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value. You will use tornado diagrams, heat maps and S-curves to communicate exposure to decision-makers.

    Risk Response Planning

Design and implement responses for threats (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept) and opportunities (exploit, share, enhance, accept). Assign owners, set triggers, build contingency and fallback plans, and fold reserves into the project schedule and budget.

    Monitor and Close Risks

Track identified, residual and secondary risks against triggers, run periodic risk reviews, and report changes in the risk profile to sponsors and governance bodies. Learn to close resolved risks and capture lessons for future projects at closure.

    Exam and Application Readiness

Prepare for the 115-question, 2.5-hour closed-book exam with mock tests and scenario practice mapped to all five domains, plus guidance on documenting your risk experience and education for the PMI application across the three eligibility sets.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management, for professionals who identify, assess, respond to and monitor risk on projects and programmes. It suits risk analysts, project managers, PMO specialists and risk consultants who want to prove specialist expertise.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management, for professionals who identify, assess, respond to and monitor risk on projects and programmes. It suits risk analysts, project managers, PMO specialists and risk consultants who want to prove specialist expertise.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Angola?

Yes. With a USD 60-70bn oil pipeline, four refinery builds and the Lobito Corridor, Angolan employers in energy, banking and infrastructure increasingly need certified risk specialists. Certified risk talent is scarce here, so the credential can lift both your role and your earning power.

Is PMP required before the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite. You can apply for the PMI-RMP directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do also hold PMP, as the two credentials complement each other well.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To renew, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements system. This is fewer than the 60 PDUs required for PMP.

    Is the PMI-RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers worldwide and is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as construction, energy, defence and financial services, where formal project risk management is often contractually or regulatorily required.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours of risk education, mock exams, scenario practice, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. Request a quote for current pricing in your preferred format.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org, as they vary by region. PMI membership, about USD 139 per year, lowers the exam fee and gives free access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Is the exam fee included in the course price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, so it is not part of the training fee. We can walk you through both costs and the membership savings so you can budget accurately. Talk to a learning advisor for details.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing in Angola?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, engineering teams and risk functions. It suits organisations upskilling teams in Luanda and on remote sites. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers and offer instalment options on selected plans. Pricing is confirmed on enquiry for your chosen format. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with 115 multiple-choice questions, in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours, that is 150 minutes, to complete it. Questions are distributed across the five risk management domains defined in the current Examination Content Outline.

What are the five PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

Per the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, the five domains are Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score and where do I sit the exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing standard rather than a fixed percentage, with domain-level feedback. You can take the exam online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and scenario practice are designed to prepare you for a confident first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It spans predictive, agile and hybrid environments, with tools from SWOT and the Delphi technique to Monte Carlo simulation and expected monetary value.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

You can enrol without meeting the PMI eligibility bar, and the programme is structured to build understanding step by step. To sit the exam, PMI requires documented project risk management experience and education, which we help you plan and document.

Does this training meet the PMI education requirement?

The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour risk education requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates (secondary diploma) need 40 hours and should add at least eight further hours of risk education.

What learning resources and practice are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the Examination Content Outline and PMI-RMP Handbook, mock exams, topic quizzes and scenario practice mapped to the five domains, plus templates and guidance for the PMI application.

Is the courseware aligned with the current exam?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and to PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, covering predictive, agile and hybrid risk approaches.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP?

PMI offers three sets: Set A needs a secondary diploma, 36 months of risk experience in the last five years and 40 hours of education; Set B needs a degree, 24 months and 30 hours; Set C needs a GAC-accredited degree, 12 months and 30 hours. Experience must be in project risk specifically.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website and join upcoming live virtual or classroom batches. Choose your format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. Talk to an advisor to see the next available batch in Angola.

What training formats are available in Angola?

We offer live virtual instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training. Online (live virtual) delivery suits professionals balancing project and offshore schedules across Luanda and beyond.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange a change that fits your schedule.

Do you support the PMI application process?

Yes. We guide you through documenting your risk management experience and education, choosing the right eligibility set, and preparing for a possible PMI audit, so your application is complete and accurate. Reach out to a learning advisor to get started.
