What Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification? The People Side of Change, Made Clear

The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification Course (CM-F&P) is a combined, two-level qualification that teaches you how to lead the people and culture side of organisational change. It is grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) from the Change Management Institute and the current Change Management Practitioner Guide, and it is recognised by employers across Barbados and worldwide. Across five topic areas, from Change and the Individual to Change Practice, you master proven models such as ADKAR, Kotter's 8-Step approach, Lewin's model, McKinsey 7-S and Bridges' Transition Model, then apply them to realistic change scenarios. The Foundation level builds your knowledge and comprehension; the Practitioner level proves you can put it to work. As Barbados accelerates public sector digitisation, financial services modernisation and its wider transformation agenda, professionals who can turn strategy into adopted change are in growing demand. Earn both credentials with Invensis Learning and step into confident change leadership.

It suits project and programme managers, HR business partners, OD practitioners, consultants and leaders who sponsor or deliver change. There are no formal prerequisites for Foundation, so professionals at any career stage can begin.

Which change models does the syllabus cover?

The syllabus covers a broad range of models including ADKAR, Bridges' Transition Model, Lewin's Three-Step model, Kotter's 8-Step approach, McKinsey 7-S, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Cialdini's principles of influence.

    Exam

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions, is closed book, and lasts 40 minutes. The pass mark is 50 percent, meaning 25 of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation training.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam is open book, scenario-based, and lasts 2.5 hours. It has five sections each worth 16 marks, 80 marks in total, and the pass mark is 50 percent, meaning 40 of 80 marks. The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam. However, the scenario-based sections require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and solid method knowledge are both essential.

What are the prerequisites for each level?

Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Practitioner requires the Change Management Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent, so the combined programme takes you through both levels in sequence.

What if I do not pass an exam the first time?

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. Foundation assumes no prior change management knowledge and starts from core concepts, so beginners are well supported. The training then builds you up to Practitioner-level application through guided, scenario-based practice.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive courseware aligned to the Foundation and Practitioner syllabi, industry-driven case studies, practice questions and mock exams, plus guidance on open-book Practitioner exam technique.
