Assessment

How is the QFD training assessed?

Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion rather than a formal assessment. You practise building and interpreting real QFD matrices throughout the programme.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning, recognising the QFD skills you have built. The practical skills are immediately applicable to your product and service design work.

How long is the QFD training?

The programme is delivered in one day (8 hours), covering QFD foundations, Voice of the Customer capture, full House of Quality construction, the four-phase cascade and QFD in Design for Six Sigma and services, with hands-on exercises throughout.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to capture and structure the Voice of the Customer, build a complete House of Quality, calculate design priorities, resolve conflicts using the correlation roof, and cascade requirements through parts, process and production planning.

Is the QFD skill set applicable at work straight away?

Yes. QFD is a practical, tool-focused method you can apply immediately to new product development, service design and quality planning. Many learners run a Voice of the Customer workshop or build a House of Quality on a live project soon after training.

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The course covers QFD principles and origins, Voice of the Customer capture, the Kano model, full House of Quality construction, interpreting the matrix, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in Design for Six Sigma, DMAIC and service design.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics, rates their relationships, uses a correlation roof to expose design conflicts, benchmarks competitors and sets engineering targets. You build one hands-on during the course.

Does the course cover the Voice of the Customer?

Yes. Capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer is a core module. You learn data collection methods, customer segmentation, affinity diagrams, the three-level requirement hierarchy, the Kano model and importance weighting.

Is QFD applicable to services and software?

Yes. Although QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers its use in services such as healthcare and financial services, and in software, translating user and stakeholder requirements into delivery standards and design decisions.

What QFD framework is taught in the course?

The course teaches the widely used four-phase QFD model developed by Yoji Akao: product planning (the House of Quality), parts deployment, process planning and production planning, ensuring customer requirements drive decisions from concept to production.
