What Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification?Your Route into Professional Change Practice

The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner (CM-F&P) is a globally recognised, two-level credential that proves you can manage the people and culture side of organisational change. Change Management certification training in Japan takes you through both levels end to end, so you move from understanding change theory to applying it in real scenarios. The qualification sits within the scheme governed by the Change Management Institute and the Agile Business Consortium, and is grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) and the current Change Management Practitioner Guide. Foundation validates your knowledge of change concepts and models across five syllabus areas; Practitioner proves you can apply them to workplace change through scenario-based, open-book assessment. With digital and green transformation reshaping Japanese enterprises, professionals who can lead adoption, engage stakeholders and sustain new behaviour are in strong demand. Whether you are a project manager, HR or OD practitioner, consultant or senior sponsor, this credential formalises your change expertise. Start your CM-F&P journey with Invensis Learning.

    General

What is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification?

CM-F&P is a globally recognised, two-level credential covering the people and culture side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change concepts and models, while Practitioner proves you can apply them to real scenarios. It is grounded in the CMBoK and the official exam syllabi.

Who should take this course in Japan?

It suits project and programme managers, HR and OD professionals, consultants, transformation leads and senior leaders sponsoring change. There is no prior change experience needed for Foundation, so it works for both newcomers and seasoned practitioners across Japan.

Is the certification worth it for my career in Japan?

Yes. With DX and GX programmes accelerating and certified change talent scarce, CM-F&P holders are in strong demand. Change management consultants in Japan average around 12.5M yen a year, with transformation leaders far higher. Talk to a learning advisor about your goals.

Which change management models does the course cover?

It covers ADKAR, Bridges' Transition Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model, McKinsey 7-S, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Cialdini's principles of influence, at both Foundation and Practitioner level.

    Is CM-F&P recognised internationally?

Yes. The Change Management qualification is recognised in over 150 countries and is well respected wherever organisational change is a professional discipline, including across Japan, the UK, Europe and Australia.

    Pricing

What is included in the course fee?

Your fee typically covers Change Management-aligned courseware, industry case studies, both Foundation and Practitioner mock exams, exam-technique guidance and post-training support. Exam voucher inclusion varies by package. Request a quote to confirm what your package covers.

How much does the training cost in Japan?

Pricing varies by format and schedule, so fees are available on request. Live virtual, classroom and corporate options each have their own pricing. Ask a learning advisor for a tailored quote that fits your needs.

    Are the exam fees included?

Exam voucher inclusion for the Foundation and Practitioner exams varies by package. Confirm current inclusions when you enrol, and our team will tell you exactly what is covered before you pay.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer volume-based corporate pricing for teams, delivered onsite or live virtual and tailored to your transformation goals. Ask about group pricing for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

Two. The Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials, and the 40-hour programme prepares you for each.

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

50 multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes, closed book, single-answer format. The pass mark is 50%, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is delivered by online proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

Five scenario-based sections worth 16 marks each, 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, with the Change Management Practitioner Guide permitted. The pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the Practitioner Guide during the exam, but the scenario questions require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look answers up. Efficient guide navigation and deep method knowledge both matter.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can resit the exam. Resit policies and any fees vary, so confirm the current terms when you enrol. Our mock exams and exam-technique coaching are designed to help you pass both exams on the first attempt.

    Course Content

    How long is the training?

The combined Change Management Foundation and Practitioner programme runs for 40 hours, delivered over a schedule that suits you, such as intensive full days or extended part-time sessions.
