What Is COBIT 5 Implementation Certification?Your Route to IT Governance Leadership

The COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) certification is the intermediate-level qualification that proves you can apply the COBIT 5 framework to plan, lead and sustain an IT governance improvement programme. Delivered as instructor-led COBIT 5 Implementation certification training in Mozambique, it takes governance professionals beyond framework awareness into board-level delivery. Built on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and examined by PeopleCert, the course covers the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement. As Mozambican banks embed Basel III controls and public bodies drive the EDGE digital-government agenda, employers in Maputo and beyond need leaders who can turn governance theory into measurable results. Ideal for IT governance managers, consultants, risk and compliance leads and CIOs, the credential builds directly on COBIT 5 Foundation. Start your COBIT 5 Implementation journey with Invensis Learning and move from study to certified with a clear, supported path.

    What is COBIT 5 Implementation?

COBIT 5 Implementation is the intermediate-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 framework to plan and manage a governance improvement programme, covering the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    Who should take this certification?

It suits IT governance managers and consultants, IT risk and compliance leads, CIOs and IT directors leading governance transformation, and COBIT 5 Foundation holders progressing to the intermediate level. It is designed for practitioners who lead or support governance improvement programmes.

Which edition or syllabus is the course based on?

The course is built on the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version), the current syllabus for this qualification. The exam is delivered by PeopleCert and aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the credential is valued by employers worldwide for governance programme leadership, consulting and GRC roles. Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective examination based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. It is delivered online proctored via PeopleCert or at authorised test centres.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has four questions, each worth 20 marks, for a total of 80 marks. You have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. Each question is scenario based and requires you to apply the implementation approach, not just recall it.

    What is the passing score?

The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because the exam is scenario based, both a solid grasp of the method and efficient navigation of the two permitted reference books matter.

What are the prerequisites for the exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. Candidates who do not hold Foundation must take and pass it before sitting the Implementation exam, as Foundation knowledge of the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model is assumed throughout.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; verify the current re-sit policy and any fee at the time of booking. Our training includes mock exams and open-book technique practice to help you prepare thoroughly and sit with confidence.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The training covers all four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement. It is delivered as a 16-hour programme aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

They are: What are the drivers? Where are we now? Where do we want to be? What needs to be done? How do we get there? Did we get there? How do we keep the momentum going? The lifecycle is a continuous improvement cycle, not a one-off project.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation as a prerequisite, and the level suits practitioners who lead or support governance improvement. If you hold Foundation, the training builds directly on it, applying the framework to realistic organisational scenarios.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive courseware aligned to the 2022 syllabus, references to the COBIT 5 Implementation book and COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide, scenario-based practice, mock exams and guidance on navigating the reference guides efficiently under exam conditions.

Is the courseware aligned with the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide, so you prepare against the current requirements for the qualification.
