What Is the Certified ScrumMaster Certification?Your First Step into Scrum

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification, and CSM certification training in Panama gives you a clear, supported route to earning it. It validates your grasp of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values that make Scrum teams effective, and it is the most widely recognised Scrum Master credential in the world. The course is aligned to the current Scrum Guide (the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland) and the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. Over 16 hours of instruction you learn Scrum theory and empiricism, the five Scrum values, the three accountabilities, all five Scrum events, the three artefacts, and how a servant leader removes impediments and coaches a team. Scrum Alliance requires that the course is delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) before the exam is unlocked. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving to agile, and developers formalising their Scrum knowledge across Panama's fast-growing banking, fintech and technology sectors. Start your CSM journey with Invensis Learning.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification, validating your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role and the values that make Scrum teams effective. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving to agile, and developers or analysts formalising their Scrum knowledge.

    General

What is the CSM certification and who is it for?

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification, validating your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role and the values that make Scrum teams effective. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving to agile, and developers or analysts formalising their Scrum knowledge.

Is the CSM certification worth it in Panama?

Yes. As Panamanian banks reach digital-transformation maturity in 2026 and the country grows as a Latin American tech hub, Scrum Masters are in demand across banking, fintech, telecoms and software. Scrum Master roles in Panama average around B/. 49,222 a year, and the CSM is the most widely recognised Scrum Master credential worldwide.

Why choose Invensis Learning for CSM training in Panama?

Invensis Learning delivers Scrum Alliance aligned CSM training through a Certified Scrum Trainer, with flexible live virtual and onsite formats, industry-driven case studies and dedicated learner support. You also receive a two-year Scrum Alliance membership on completing the course.

Which body issues the CSM and is it recognised internationally?

The CSM is issued by Scrum Alliance and is the world's most widely recognised Scrum Master credential, with over one million certificates issued. It is valued by employers across Panama and worldwide, in all industries that use Scrum.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew it, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching and self-study.

What is the next step after the CSM?

The Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) is the next level in the Scrum Alliance Scrum Master track, covering advanced facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement. The CSM is the mandatory prerequisite, and A-CSM also asks for experience in a Scrum Master role after earning the CSM.

    Pricing

How much does CSM training cost in Panama?

CSM training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The course fee typically includes the Scrum Alliance online exam and a two-year membership, as these are arranged through the training provider. Talk to a learning advisor for a current quote.

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The fee usually includes Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, 16 hours of instructor-led training by a Certified Scrum Trainer, case studies, access to the Scrum Alliance online exam, and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership. Request a quote to confirm what is included in your plan.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

For the CSM, the exam is typically bundled into the course fee paid to the training provider, since Scrum Alliance requires course completion before the exam is unlocked. Confirm the exact inclusions when you request your quote.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for squads, PMOs and transformation programmes across Panama. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Panama uses the US dollar alongside the balboa, so fees are quoted accordingly. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an online, open-book, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes (one hour). It is taken online without a proctor, within 90 days of completing your approved course.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74%, meaning you need at least 37 of the 50 questions correct. Because the exam is open book and focused on core Scrum concepts, thorough course participation prepares you well.

Do I need to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory, and the exam cannot be accessed without it. This is why our Scrum Alliance aligned course is the required first step.

What if I do not pass the CSM exam the first time?

Candidates typically have up to three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. Our trainer guidance and practice questions are designed to help you pass on your first attempt, so few learners need a retake.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the CSM training?

The course covers the six Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, the five Scrum events, the three Scrum artefacts, and the Scrum Master role, all aligned to the current Scrum Guide.

Can a beginner take this course, or do I need experience?

Beginners are welcome. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement for the CSM. The course is designed for those new to Scrum as well as professionals formalising existing knowledge, with plenty of guided practice and examples.

How long is the CSM training and how is it delivered?

The programme runs for 16 hours, delivered either as two full days or four half-days, in live virtual (online) or onsite classroom formats. All sessions are led by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest Scrum Guide?

Yes. The courseware follows the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition, which introduced the Product Goal and refined the artefact commitments such as the Definition of Done and Sprint Goal.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive Scrum Alliance aligned course materials, industry-driven case studies on facilitation and impediment removal, and guidance on earning the SEUs needed to renew your CSM. Practice activities help reinforce each topic.
