    What is the format of the EXIN BCS Foundation exam?

    The Foundation exam has 40 closed-book, single-answer multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. The passing score is 65 per cent, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. It can be taken online with EXIN proctoring or at an accredited location.

    How does the Practitioner exam differ from the Foundation exam?

    The Practitioner exam also has 40 questions in 60 minutes with a 65 per cent pass mark, but it is scenario-based, testing how you apply business analysis techniques across 7 topic areas. Foundation tests knowledge, while Practitioner tests applied judgement.

    What is the passing score for both exams?

    Both exams require 65 per cent to pass, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct. The score is the same for the Foundation and the Practitioner levels.

    Are there any prerequisites for the exams?

    The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The Foundation certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level, which is why the combined programme covers Foundation first, then Practitioner.

    What happens if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

    What topics does the training cover?

    The Foundation level covers 14 topic areas including investigation techniques, requirements engineering, process and requirements modelling, stakeholder management and business cases. The Practitioner level applies these across 7 scenario-based areas.

    No. The Foundation level is open to beginners and needs no prior business analysis experience. The programme builds from core concepts to applied practice, so newcomers and experienced professionals alike can follow it.

    How long is the training programme?

    The combined programme is 32 hours, typically delivered as a 4-day intensive with Foundation content first and Practitioner content second. Extended schedules over 6 or 8 days are also available to fit working professionals.

    What standard is the course aligned to?

    The course is aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge and the official EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner examination specifications, so what you learn maps directly to what both exams assess.
