The Observability Skills You Will BuildMetrics, Logs, Traces and Reliability

This Observability Foundation programme builds practical, job-ready capability across the full observability lifecycle. By the end, you can instrument systems, define reliability targets and diagnose incidents in modern, distributed environments.

Master the Three Pillars of Observability

You will learn what observability is, how it differs from traditional monitoring, and how the three pillars, metrics, logs and distributed traces, work together to reveal the internal state of complex systems and the failures you did not predict.

    Instrument Systems with OpenTelemetry

Use OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions to instrument services, then build telemetry pipelines that aggregate, transform and route data using head-based, tail-based and dynamic sampling.

Design SLIs, SLOs and Error Budgets

Define service-level indicators that matter to users, set meaningful service-level objectives, and use error budgets to balance reliability against delivery velocity across your services.

    Correlate Telemetry for Root-Cause Analysis

Bring metrics, logs and distributed traces together to trace requests end to end, pinpoint failures across microservices, and cut the time it takes to find and fix the real cause of an incident.

Build Modern Alerting and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to burn-rate alerting, design on-call rotations that reduce alert fatigue, and run blameless postmortems and retrospectives that turn incidents into learning.

Apply Observability in SRE and AIOps

Understand observability's role in mature SRE practice, explore AIOps and anomaly detection, and prepare for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book OBSF exam with confidence.
