What Is PRINCE2 Practitioner and Who Is It For?Your Advanced PRINCE2 Credential

The PRINCE2 Practitioner (PRINCE2-P) certification validates your ability to apply and tailor the PRINCE2 project management method to the needs of a real project scenario. Owned by AXELOS and delivered by PeopleCert, it is the advanced level of the PRINCE2 scheme, sitting above Foundation and built for project managers who already work with the method. This PRINCE2 Practitioner certification training in Halifax is aligned to the current PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) and the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus. You learn to apply the seven principles, seven practices and seven processes, and to tailor them across governance, risk, quality and people management for an open-book, scenario-based exam. Delivered in live virtual and classroom formats, the programme suits Foundation holders and PMP or CAPM holders across Halifax's government, defence, IT and ocean-technology sectors. You move from method knowledge to confident, tailored application, ready to lead PRINCE2 projects and pass the PeopleCert Practitioner exam.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PRINCE2 Practitioner is the advanced level of the PRINCE2 project management method, validating your ability to apply and tailor its principles, practices and processes to a real project scenario. Owned by AXELOS and delivered by PeopleCert, it is aligned to the PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) and suits practising and aspiring project managers.

    General

What is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification?

PRINCE2 Practitioner is the advanced level of the PRINCE2 project management method, validating your ability to apply and tailor its principles, practices and processes to a real project scenario. Owned by AXELOS and delivered by PeopleCert, it is aligned to the PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) and suits practising and aspiring project managers.

Is PRINCE2 Practitioner worth it for project managers in Halifax?

Yes. PRINCE2 is widely required across Halifax's government, defence, IT and construction employers, and certified project managers in the city average around $79,844, rising well above $100,000 for senior and programme roles. It signals structured delivery skills that Commonwealth and public-sector employers trust. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What are the prerequisites for PRINCE2 Practitioner?

You need PRINCE2 Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA Level A, B, C or D. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement, though the credential is designed for practising or aspiring project managers.

How is PRINCE2 Practitioner different from Foundation?

Foundation is a closed-book exam that tests knowledge of PRINCE2 at awareness level. Practitioner is open book and scenario-based, testing your ability to apply and tailor the method in realistic project situations. Foundation, or an accepted equivalent, is the prerequisite for Practitioner.

How long is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification valid?

PRINCE2 Practitioner is valid for three years. You can renew by retaking and passing the Practitioner exam, by completing continuing professional development through a PeopleCert MyAxelos subscription, or by passing a higher-level PRINCE2 qualification.

    Is PRINCE2 recognised internationally?

Yes. PRINCE2 is recognised globally, with particular strength in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and Commonwealth countries, including Canada. PeopleCert operates in over 200 countries, making the credential highly portable across sectors and regions.

    Pricing

How much does PRINCE2 Practitioner training cost in Halifax?

Training fees vary by format and schedule, and are available on request. The fee covers instructor-led sessions, official courseware and scenario-based exam practice; the PeopleCert exam is billed separately. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current pricing and upcoming batches.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes instructor-led or self-paced access, official PRINCE2 7 courseware, scenario-based practice questions, mock exams, downloadable resources and post-training learner support. Exam vouchers are often bundled in accredited packages; confirm inclusions when you enrol.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

The PeopleCert Practitioner exam fee is usually quoted separately, though many accredited packages bundle a voucher with the training. Pricing varies by region and channel. Ask a learning advisor whether your chosen plan includes the exam voucher.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams and PMOs across Halifax. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that best suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based exam. The PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, and questions require analysis and judgement rather than recall. It uses objective-test formats such as multiple choice, matching and assertion-reason, based on the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The Practitioner exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered as an open-book, scenario-based paper.

What is the passing score for PRINCE2 Practitioner?

The pass mark is 60%, which means achieving at least 42 out of 70 marks. Because the exam is scenario-based, broad, applied knowledge of the method matters more than memorising the manual.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

Open book means the PRINCE2 7th Edition Managing Successful Projects manual is allowed during the exam. However, questions demand scenario analysis, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient manual navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential, and the training builds both.

Where can I take the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

You can sit the exam online through PeopleCert's OnVUE proctoring, available 24/7 from home or office, or at a PeopleCert authorised test centre. The exam is usually arranged through the accredited training and exam package.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; a re-examination fee applies. Our training includes scenario practice, mock exams and exam-technique coaching to help you prepare thoroughly and reduce the need for a retake.

You should hold PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent such as PMP or CAPM before sitting the Practitioner exam. The training itself is designed for practising and aspiring project managers, and the trainer supports you from method knowledge to confident, tailored application.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest edition?

    What learning materials are provided?
