It is a combined EXIN BCS credential in two levels. The Foundation Certificate validates knowledge of business analysis concepts and techniques, and the Practitioner Certificate validates applying those techniques in real project scenarios. Both are developed in partnership with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

    General

What is the Business Analysis Foundation and Practitioner certification?

It is a combined EXIN BCS credential in two levels. The Foundation Certificate validates knowledge of business analysis concepts and techniques, and the Practitioner Certificate validates applying those techniques in real project scenarios. Both are developed in partnership with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

Is this business analysis certification worth it in Colombia?

Yes. Certified analysts are in strong demand across Colombia's fintech, banking and nearshoring sectors, with Business Analyst roles averaging around COP 62M a year and senior roles near COP 102M. The EXIN BCS credential is recognised internationally, which helps on nearshore projects for US and European clients.

    Who should take this course?

It suits aspiring analysts, IT professionals moving into BA roles, product owners, and practising analysts formalising their skills. The Foundation level has no prerequisites, so beginners are welcome, while the Practitioner level builds on Foundation knowledge for applied practice.

    Is the certification recognised internationally?

Yes. EXIN operates in over 165 countries and BCS is the UK's chartered professional body for IT. The combined credential is well recognised across the UK, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, which is valuable for Colombia's export-focused nearshore employers.

How long are the certifications valid?

Both the Foundation and Practitioner certifications are valid for life. Neither credential expires, and there is no renewal, re-examination or continuing education requirement to keep them.

    Pricing

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across both levels, EXIN BCS aligned courseware, case studies, practice questions and mock exams, and learner support. Exam voucher inclusion varies by package. Request a quote to confirm what is included for your chosen format.

How much does the training cost in Colombia?

Pricing depends on the format you choose, such as live virtual or corporate group training, and whether exam vouchers are bundled. Exact fees are available on request. Speak with a learning advisor for a tailored quote for individuals or teams.

Are the exam fees included in the training price?

Exam voucher inclusion depends on the package. Some bundles include both the Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers, while others price them separately. Confirm the details for your plan when you request a quote.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams, product groups and transformation offices. Contact us for a group quote for your team in Colombia.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

Our training includes structured mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance to prepare you for a first-time pass. If a re-sit is needed, EXIN allows re-examination; confirm the current re-sit policy and any fees at exin.com or with our team.

What is the format of the Foundation and Practitioner exams?

The Foundation exam is closed book with single-answer multiple-choice questions. The Practitioner exam is closed book and scenario-based, presenting project situations that require you to apply BA techniques. Both can be taken online proctored or at an accredited test centre.

How many questions are on each exam and what is the pass mark?

Each exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes. The pass mark for both is 65 percent, which is 26 out of 40 correct answers. You must pass both exams to hold the full Foundation and Practitioner credentials.

Where can I take the EXIN BCS exams?

You can sit both exams online through EXIN's online proctored system from home or office, or at an EXIN accredited test centre. Exams are usually arranged through the accredited training provider as part of the combined programme.

Do I need to pass Foundation before Practitioner?

The Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level. In the combined programme you typically sit the Foundation exam first, then the Practitioner exam, so you progress in the intended order.

    Course Content

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior experience is needed for the Foundation level, which has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The course starts with core concepts before building to Practitioner-level application, so beginners and career changers are well supported.

What topics does the Foundation level cover?

Foundation covers 14 topic areas, including what business analysis is, investigation techniques, stakeholder analysis, business process modelling, establishing and documenting requirements, requirements modelling, strategy analysis and building a business case.

What does the Practitioner level cover?

Practitioner covers seven applied topic areas assessed through scenario-based questions: the rationale for business analysis, strategic context, the current situation, stakeholder analysis, analysing and modelling business activities, identifying solutions, and building the business case.

What standard is the course aligned to?
