The Scrum Skills You Will MasterReady to Apply on Day One

This CSM programme builds framework fluency, facilitation skill and the servant leadership mindset the Scrum Master role demands. By the end, you can ground a team in Scrum, run its events, and prepare confidently for the online Scrum Alliance exam.

    Scrum Theory and Empiricism

The skills covered in the CSM course begin with the empirical foundation of Scrum: the three pillars of transparency, inspection and adaptation, complexity and the Cynefin framework, and the connection to the Agile Manifesto. You learn why Scrum thrives in complex, unpredictable work.

    The Five Scrum Values

Apply commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage as the culture that makes Scrum work. You learn how living the values builds trust, enables the three pillars, and how the Scrum Master models them for the team.

    The Scrum Team and Accountabilities

Understand the Scrum Team as a small, self-managing, cross-functional unit, and the three accountabilities: the Scrum Master, the Product Owner and the Developers. You learn how self-management and cross-functionality work in practice.

    Facilitating the Five Scrum Events

Plan and facilitate the Sprint, Sprint Planning, the Daily Scrum, the Sprint Review and the Sprint Retrospective, with all timebox rules. You learn to protect the Sprint and keep every event purposeful and productive.

    The Three Scrum Artifacts

Work with the Product Backlog, the Sprint Backlog and the Increment, and their commitments: the Product Goal, the Sprint Goal and the Definition of Done. You learn how the artifacts create transparency across the work, the plan and the product.

The Scrum Master as Servant Leader

Serve the Scrum Team, the Product Owner and the wider organisation through coaching, facilitation and impediment removal. You practise retrospective techniques and learn to enable, not direct, self-managing teams.

    General

What is the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification?

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values that make Scrum teams effective. It is the world's most widely recognised Scrum Master credential.

Is the CSM worth it for professionals in Estonia?

Yes. Estonia's fintech, SaaS and mobility employers are scaling agile teams and need Scrum Masters who can facilitate them. Scrum Master roles average around €33,405 a year and rise with experience, and the CSM is a recognised, portable entry point. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, developers and testers who want to formalise their Scrum knowledge, project managers moving into agile delivery, and team leads facilitating Scrum teams. There are no formal prerequisites, so it is beginner-friendly.

Which standard is the CSM based on?

The course is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. This is the edition that introduced the Product Goal and simplified the framework.

How long is the CSM certification valid?
