What Is the Observability Foundation Certification?Your Route into Modern Observability

The Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute (PeopleCert) that validates your understanding of how to observe, understand and improve modern IT systems. Observability Foundation certification training in Egypt gives professionals in Cairo, Alexandria and across the market a structured route into the concepts, tools and practices that keep cloud-native and microservices systems reliable. Aligned to the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge), the course covers the three pillars of observability (metrics, logs and traces) along with SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, OpenTelemetry, alerting strategy and incident response. You prepare for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book exam while building skills employers use in production every day. As Egypt's Digital Egypt programme, cloud-first mandate and fast-growing offshoring sector push more workloads to the cloud, demand for engineers who can make distributed systems observable is rising. Earn the credential with Invensis Learning and take a confident step into DevOps, SRE and platform engineering roles.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Egypt, approved to deliver official Observability Foundation training using accredited courseware and standards.

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute (PeopleCert) that validates a foundational understanding of observability. It covers the three pillars (metrics, logs and traces), SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, observability tooling and the organisational practices behind reliable modern systems.

    General

What is the Observability Foundation certification?

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute (PeopleCert) that validates a foundational understanding of observability. It covers the three pillars (metrics, logs and traces), SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, observability tooling and the organisational practices behind reliable modern systems.

Is the Observability Foundation certification worth it in Egypt?

Yes. With Digital Egypt, a cloud-first mandate and a fast-growing offshoring sector, employers increasingly need engineers who can keep cloud-native systems reliable. A recognised observability credential helps you stand out for DevOps, SRE and platform roles across Cairo and beyond.

Who should take Observability Foundation training?

It suits DevOps and platform engineers, SREs, IT operations staff, developers and technical managers who want to formalise their observability knowledge. Familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps but is not required.

Are there any prerequisites for the course?

No. Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Some familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations makes the content easier to absorb, but the Foundation level builds ideas up from first principles.

How long is the certification valid?

The credential is valid for three years. You renew it by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.

    Pricing

We accept major cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you best.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

It is an open-book, multiple-choice exam with single-answer questions, based on the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge) from the DevOps Institute.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes (one hour). It is delivered online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the exam?

You need 65% to pass, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct. Our mock exams mirror this format so you know where you stand before exam day.

What if I do not pass on my first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam; retake policies and fees are set by the DevOps Institute (PeopleCert). Our training includes practice questions, mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you pass the first time.

Which standard is the exam based on?

The exam is aligned to the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge published by the DevOps Institute, covering the three pillars, SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, OpenTelemetry, alerting and incident response.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The programme covers six areas: observability principles and the three pillars; metrics, logs and distributed tracing; SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets; OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines; alerting and incident response; and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

    How long is the training?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule you choose.

Will I learn OpenTelemetry and the three pillars in depth?

Yes. You work through metrics, logs and traces in detail, learn to instrument services with OpenTelemetry, and practise correlating telemetry for root-cause analysis.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. You get practice questions and full mock exams aligned to the 40-question, 60-minute open-book format, so you can identify gaps and build exam readiness.

Do I need a technical background for the content?

Basic familiarity with IT operations or software delivery helps, but the Foundation level is designed to be accessible, and trainers build concepts up from first principles.
