The Scrum Master Skills You Will BuildReady to Apply from Day One

This CSM training builds practical Scrum capability across all six areas of the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. By the end of the course you can facilitate Scrum events, coach a self-managing team, and support agile delivery with confidence.

    Scrum Theory and Empiricism

Skills covered in the CSM course start with the foundations of Scrum: empirical process control and the three pillars of transparency, inspection and adaptation. You will learn why Scrum works in complex environments and how it connects to the Agile Manifesto.

    Living the Five Scrum Values

Understand and apply commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage as the culture that makes Scrum teams effective. You will learn how the values build trust, enable the three pillars, and shape how a Scrum Master models behaviour.

    Building Effective Scrum Teams

Grasp how the Scrum Team works as a small, cross-functional, self-managing unit. You will learn the accountabilities of the Scrum Master, Product Owner and Developers, and how to enable self-management rather than direct it.

    Facilitating the Five Scrum Events

Learn to facilitate the Sprint, Sprint Planning, the Daily Scrum, the Sprint Review and the Sprint Retrospective within their timeboxes. You will practise formats that keep events purposeful, productive and focused on the Sprint Goal.

    Managing Scrum Artifacts and Commitments

Work with the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and Increment, and the commitments that anchor them: the Product Goal, the Sprint Goal and the Definition of Done. You will learn how artifacts create transparency across the work and the product.

The Scrum Master as Servant Leader

Master the Scrum Master role across its three service areas: the team, the Product Owner and the organisation. You will build coaching, facilitation and impediment-removal skills, and learn to lead agile change through servant leadership.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification, validating your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role and the values that make Scrum teams effective. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers going agile, developers, testers and team leads.

    General

What is the CSM certification and who is it for?

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification, validating your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role and the values that make Scrum teams effective. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers going agile, developers, testers and team leads.

Is the CSM worth it for professionals in Madrid?

Yes. The CSM is the world's most widely recognised Scrum Master credential and is valued across Madrid's banking, fintech, insurance and IT sectors, where certified Scrum Masters remain scarce. Scrum Master roles in Madrid average around 52,000 euros a year. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Which standard is the CSM based on?

The CSM is aligned to the current Scrum Guide (November 2020) by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, and to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. Scrum Alliance is the governing body for the credential.

Do I need to attend a course to get the CSM?

Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) is mandatory. The CSM exam cannot be accessed without completing an approved course, which is exactly what this programme provides.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. Passing the exam also includes a two-year Scrum Alliance membership.

What is the next step after the CSM?

The Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) is the next level in the Scrum Alliance Scrum Master track, covering advanced facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement. The CSM is the mandatory prerequisite for the A-CSM.

    Pricing

How much does CSM training cost in Madrid?

CSM training fees vary by format and provider, and the Scrum Alliance exam fee is typically included in the course fee. For current pricing in Madrid across live virtual and classroom formats, request a quote and a learning advisor will share the options that suit you.

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The fee typically includes Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, instruction by a Certified Scrum Trainer, case studies, practice questions, access to the CSM exam, and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership on passing, plus learner support throughout.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

In most cases, yes. The CSM exam fee is usually bundled into the course fee paid to the training provider. Confirm the exact inclusions for your batch when you request a quote, as they can vary by format.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product teams, PMOs and departments in Madrid. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that works best for you.

    Exam

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is a 50-question, multiple-choice, open-book test taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. There is no proctor, and it draws on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the Scrum Guide.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You need 74% to pass, which is at least 37 correct answers out of 50 questions. The course preparation and practice questions are designed to get you comfortably above that mark.

How long is the CSM exam and how many attempts do I get?

You have 60 minutes to complete the 50-question exam. Candidates typically get three attempts to pass within 90 days of course completion, so there is room to prepare and retake if needed.

Do I need experience or eligibility to sit the exam?

No formal education or work experience is required. The only requirement is completing an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer, after which the online exam is unlocked in your Scrum Alliance account.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can retake the CSM exam within your remaining attempts during the 90-day window after the course. Our trainers and practice resources help you target weak areas before you sit it again, so a first miss is not a setback.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the CSM course?

You will learn the six areas of the CSM Learning Objectives: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, the five Scrum events, the Scrum artifacts and commitments, and the Scrum Master role as a servant leader.

Do I need prior Scrum experience to take this course?

No. The CSM is an entry-level certification suitable for beginners as well as those already working on Scrum teams. The course builds your knowledge from the foundations of Scrum through to practical facilitation.
