Skills You Will Build as a Product OwnerBacklog, Vision and Stakeholder Skills

This CSPO training builds the practical product ownership skills the Scrum Alliance curriculum expects. By the end, you can define a product vision, manage and order a backlog, engage stakeholders, and plan releases that deliver value.

    Scrum Theory for Product Owners

What you will learn in CSPO starts here: the empiricism, transparency, inspection and adaptation behind Scrum, and how the three pillars and Scrum values shape every product decision you make as a Product Owner.

    Product Vision and Product Goal

Craft a compelling product vision and translate it into a Product Goal, the Product Backlog commitment that gives your Scrum team a shared, long-term target to work towards.

    Product Backlog Management

Build and refine a Product Backlog of well-formed items, write clear user stories using the INVEST criteria and acceptance criteria, and keep the backlog healthy as a single source of truth.

    Ordering and Prioritisation

Order the backlog by value, risk and dependencies using techniques such as MoSCoW, cost of delay and the Kano model, so the team always works on what matters most.

    Stakeholder Collaboration and Value

Identify stakeholders, run effective Sprint Reviews, capture the voice of the customer, and turn competing demands into evidence-based, value-driven product decisions.

    Release Planning and Forecasting

Plan releases, forecast with velocity, and apply MVP and minimal marketable feature thinking to deliver value early while managing scope transparently.

The Certified Scrum Product Owner, or CSPO, is a Scrum Alliance credential for anyone stepping into or working alongside the Product Owner role. It suits aspiring Product Owners, product managers, business analysts and founders who want to apply Scrum to maximise product value.

    General

What is the CSPO certification and who is it for?

The Certified Scrum Product Owner, or CSPO, is a Scrum Alliance credential for anyone stepping into or working alongside the Product Owner role. It suits aspiring Product Owners, product managers, business analysts and founders who want to apply Scrum to maximise product value.

Is the CSPO certification worth it for professionals in Reykjavik?

Yes. Product ownership is in strong demand across Reykjavik's gaming, fintech, biotech and public sector teams, where Scrum is the default way to build software. A recognised credential helps you stand out and step into Product Owner roles that pay well in Iceland.

Do I need to pass an exam to earn the CSPO?

No. CSPO has no exam. The credential is awarded by Scrum Alliance once you complete an approved course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer, so your focus stays on learning and applying product ownership rather than passing a test.

Are there any prerequisites for CSPO training?

No formal education or work experience is required. CSPO is an entry to intermediate credential, suitable for those new to product ownership and for experienced professionals who want to formalise their Scrum knowledge.

How long is the CSPO certification valid?
