    Your Iceland Career Transformation

From Delivery Focus to Risk Leadership

How to Get PMI-RMP Certified in IcelandStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-RMP certification path in Iceland is a pure exam track: once your PMI application is approved, you proceed directly to the 115-question, 150-minute exam administered through Pearson VUE , no peer-panel review is required. From initial training to exam day typically takes 6-10 weeks, including application processing.

    Step 1: Confirm PMI-RMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets. Set A: high school or secondary school diploma (or global equivalent) + 36 months / 3 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 40 hours of project risk management education. Set B: bachelor's degree or higher (or global equivalent) + 24 months / 2 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Set C: bachelor's degree or higher from a GAC-accredited program + 12 months / 1 year of project risk management experience within the past 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Education hours must be in project risk management topics specifically.

Step 2: Enroll in a Learning Program

Choose a learning format that aligns with your schedule and goals, such as a PMI-RMP bootcamp, live virtual sessions, self-paced learning, or corporate group training. Enrollment provides access to PMI-aligned courseware, practice assessments, and expert-led guidance.

Step 3: Register on the PMI Candidate Portal

Create or sign in to your PMI account at pmi.org. PMI membership (~$139/year) is optional but reduces the PMI-RMP exam fee from ~$670 to ~$520 and gives access to the PMI Risk Management Practice Guide and the PMI Standard for Risk Management.

Step 4: Submit the PMI-RMP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal: document your project risk management experience, list your 30 or 40 contact hours, and pay the application/exam fee (~$520 PMI member or ~$670 non-member). PMI typically processes applications within 5-10 business days. Unlike PfMP, no peer-panel review is required.

Step 5: Sit the 115-Question PMI-RMP Exam via Pearson VUE

Once approved, you receive a one-year exam eligibility window. Book your PMI-RMP exam through Pearson VUE , online proctored from your home or office in Iceland, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is 115 multiple-choice and scenario questions over 150 minutes, covering all five risk management domains.

Step 6: Earn the PMI-RMP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PMI-RMP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 30 PDUs in risk-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

It is designed for risk managers, project and programme managers, PMO analysts and consultants who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It is designed for risk managers, project and programme managers, PMO analysts and consultants who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Iceland?

Yes. As Iceland invests in renewable energy, infrastructure and tighter financial regulation, employers increasingly value certified risk specialists. Risk manager roles average around ISK 15.7M a year, and the PMI-RMP helps you stand out for senior, better-paid roles.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many holders carry both, as the credentials are complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Is the PMI-RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers worldwide. It is particularly valued in high-risk sectors such as energy, construction, financial services and technology, where structured project risk management is often required.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, coverage of all five risk domains, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support, plus 32 contact hours. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. Request a quote for current pricing in Iceland.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD, for reference around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org as they vary by region. Membership can lower both the exam and renewal costs.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts in Iceland?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project teams, PMOs and risk functions. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid to PMI separately and is not part of the training fee. This keeps training and exam costs transparent, and we can guide you through the PMI application and payment steps.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the PMI-RMP exam on the first attempt?

You are not on your own. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to prepare you thoroughly. Reexamination fees apply per attempt; confirm current amounts at pmi.org.

How long is the PMI-RMP exam and how many questions?

The exam has 115 questions and lasts 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice formats, including single-answer and multiple-answer questions.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The January 2022 ECO defines five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The score is set through psychometric analysis, and results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement).

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through Pearson VUE or the PMI portal within your eligibility period.

    Course Content

Can a beginner take this training or do I need experience?
