Skills You Will Master Across the DMAIC PhasesApplied Tools for Real Projects

This Black Belt programme builds the advanced statistical, Lean and leadership capability behind the IASSC Body of Knowledge. By the end, you can lead organisation-wide improvement projects and prove results with data.

    Lead End-To-End DMAIC Projects

Master the Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control framework so you can scope, run and sustain complex improvement projects from problem statement to verified results, the core of what employers expect from a Black Belt.

Apply Advanced Statistics and Hypothesis Testing

Use descriptive and inferential statistics, normality checks, and parametric and non-parametric hypothesis tests such as t-tests, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney and Chi-Squared to make decisions backed by data rather than opinion.

    Design and Run Experiments

Plan full and fractional factorial Designs of Experiments, interpret main effects and interactions, and use regression analysis to model and optimise process performance, the analytical depth that sets Black Belt apart from Green Belt.

Deploy Lean Tools to Eliminate Waste

Apply 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban and Poka-Yoke within the DMAIC structure to remove the seven wastes, shorten cycle time and build flow across operations and service processes.

Sustain Gains with Statistical Process Control

Build and read control charts such as I-MR, Xbar-R, P, U and EWMA, design control plans and response plans, and lock in improvements so results hold long after the project closes.

    Mentor Teams and Drive Change

Translate the Voice of the Customer into Critical-to-Quality requirements, build the business case, and coach Green Belts and project teams so improvement becomes part of how the organisation works.

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

It is a closed-book exam of 150 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark. A reference document with required formulas and tables is provided. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions.
