Is there an exam for Lean Manufacturing training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste identification activities, case examples and team discussion throughout the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning once you complete the one-day programme. It is a practical skills course, so the value is in the tools you can apply immediately rather than a formal credential or awarding body.

How is my learning checked during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, hands-on exercises such as waste walks, value stream mapping, 5S assessment, OEE calculation and kanban sizing let you apply each tool to realistic scenarios and confirm your understanding as you go.

Course Content

What topics does the Lean Manufacturing course cover?

The course covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and kanban, Just-in-Time, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, heijunka, poka yoke and building a continuous improvement culture.

How long is the training and what is the format?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours), and can also be delivered as two half-days of 4 hours. It is instructor-led, combining concept explanations, manufacturing case examples and hands-on Lean tool exercises throughout.

Does the course include hands-on exercises?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout, including Gemba-based waste identification, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation, kanban quantity sizing and standard work observation, so you practise every core tool.

Which Lean tools will I learn to use?

You will learn to use value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, kanban and pull systems, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED for quick changeover, heijunka for levelling, poka yoke for mistake-proofing, and kaizen with A3 problem-solving.

Is the course relevant to non-automotive industries?

Yes. While rooted in manufacturing, the principles and many tools apply to any production, operations or service environment. Professionals in electronics, appliances, food, pharmaceuticals, logistics and industrial equipment all benefit from the same Lean toolkit.
