Is the PMI-RMP worth it in New York City?

Do I need a PMP before the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many professionals hold both, as they are complementary, but the PMI-RMP focuses entirely on risk.

What standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The PMI-RMP is based on PMI's Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022, and is aligned to PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide. The current ECO covers predictive, agile, and hybrid risk approaches.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements program.

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in New York City?

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

What are the five PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

Per the January 2022 ECO, the five domains are Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%), and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target, or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get for the exam?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from the date your application is approved. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can take it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system or at a Pearson VUE test center, including centers in and around New York City. You schedule the exam through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

Does the training satisfy the PMI education requirement?

Yes. The program provides 32 contact hours of risk management education, which fully satisfies the 30-hour requirement for Set B and Set C candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more hours of risk education.

Are agile and hybrid risk approaches covered?

Yes. In line with the January 2022 ECO, the training covers risk management across predictive, agile, and hybrid delivery environments, so you can apply the right approach to how your projects are run.

What learning materials are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, and references to the PMI-RMP ECO and Handbook, along with chapter-wise quizzes to reinforce each domain.

Can I take this training if I am new to formal risk management?

You can enroll and learn the material at any level, but sitting the exam requires meeting PMI's eligibility, which includes project risk management experience. The training builds structured, exam-ready skills and guides you on qualifying for the credential.
