Assessment

How is learning assessed in the QFD course?

Learning is assessed through practical, hands-on work rather than a written assessment. You build and interpret a complete House of Quality, classify requirements with the Kano model, and calculate design priorities during the one-day programme, so you leave able to apply the method.

Will I receive anything on completing the course?

Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning, recognising the practical QFD and House of Quality skills you have built. These skills are immediately applicable and do not expire.

Does the course lead to a formal credential?

No. QFD training builds practical, job-ready skills rather than a formal credential, and there is no external awarding body for the methodology. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and can apply the skills straight away.

How will I apply what I learn at work?

You will be able to facilitate a Voice-of-the-Customer workshop, build a House of Quality for a real product, prioritise engineering characteristics, and cascade QFD into parts, process and production planning, as well as DFSS and DMAIC projects.

Do the QFD skills need renewing?

No. The QFD and House of Quality skills you gain are immediately applicable and do not expire or require renewal. You can keep applying them to new products and services throughout your career.

Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The course covers six modules: QFD foundations and business case, Voice of the Customer capture, building the House of Quality, interpreting the House of Quality, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and services, with hands-on exercises throughout.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics, scores their relationships, maps design trade-offs in its roof, benchmarks competitors and sets design targets, all anchored to customer priorities.

How long is the QFD training?

The course is delivered in one intensive day of eight hours, or as two half-days of four hours. It covers the full QFD methodology from Voice of the Customer through to production planning, with practical House of Quality exercises.

Does the course cover QFD for services and software?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers applications in healthcare, financial services, IT and software, as well as product development. The House of Quality applies wherever customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You build a full House of Quality from a realistic scenario, structure customer needs with affinity diagrams and the Kano model, calculate design priorities, and identify design hot spots, so you practise the method throughout the day.
