Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is an advanced credential that validates your ability to lead complex, data-driven improvement projects across all five DMAIC phases. It is awarded by IASSC, now part of PeopleCert, and carries the professional designation IASSC-CBB.

    General

What is the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification?

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is an advanced credential that validates your ability to lead complex, data-driven improvement projects across all five DMAIC phases. It is awarded by IASSC, now part of PeopleCert, and carries the professional designation IASSC-CBB.

Is the Black Belt worth it for professionals in Zimbabwe?

Yes. As Zimbabwe's mining, manufacturing and services sectors grow under cost and energy pressure, certified process improvement leaders are scarce and in demand. The Black Belt positions you for senior quality and operations roles and stronger earning potential.

Who should take Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training?

The training suits quality engineers, operations and production managers, continuous improvement specialists and consultants who want to lead improvement projects full time. It is also ideal for Green Belts ready to advance to the next level.

Do I need a Green Belt before the Black Belt?

No. There are no formal prerequisites for the Black Belt, so you can enrol without a Green Belt or prior certification. Training and hands-on improvement experience are recommended but not required.

How long is the Black Belt certification valid?

The certification stays in current status for three years from the date you certify. You can maintain it by passing a recertification exam before the status elapses.

    Pricing

How much does Black Belt training cost in Zimbabwe?

Training fees vary by format, schedule and group size, so pricing for Zimbabwe is available on request. The fee includes courseware, practice questions, mock exams and learner support. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes structured courseware aligned to the body of knowledge, practice questions, full-length mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable resources, learner support and a course completion certificate.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The exam voucher is purchased separately from the certifying body and is billed in USD, with the base price varying by region. Confirm the current exam fee before you book. Talk to a learning advisor for guidance.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for quality, production and operational excellence teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

The exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice test of 150 questions based on the DMAIC body of knowledge. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided, and you may sit it online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and you have 4 hours (240 minutes) to complete it. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions, and non-native speakers may be allowed extra time.

What is the passing score for the Black Belt exam?

The minimum passing score is 580 points out of 750 points. Focus on broad mastery across all five DMAIC phases, since the exam weights Analyse and Control most heavily.

What is the exam application process?

First review the body of knowledge and, if you wish, take the optional evaluation exam to check readiness. Then purchase the exam voucher from the official IASSC orders site, choose online proctored or Pearson VUE delivery, and schedule your exam. Our team can guide you through each step.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can retake the exam by purchasing another voucher and rescheduling. Our trainers and practice resources help you target weak areas before you sit again, so most learners pass on a subsequent attempt.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define (13.5%), Measure (21.5%), Analyse (26.5%), Improve (16.5%) and Control (22.0%), including advanced statistics, design of experiments, Lean tools and statistical process control.

Will a beginner cope, or do I need experience?

Beginners can cope because the trainers build the statistical and Lean concepts step by step with worked examples. Prior improvement experience helps, but the structured materials and practice make the advanced content accessible.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator that mirrors the 150-question format, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest body of knowledge?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current IASSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt body of knowledge, structured around the five DMAIC phases tested in the exam.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware, statistical and Lean tool references, templates, chapter-wise quizzes, flashcards and practice resources to support both your learning and your exam preparation.

How do I enrol in the Black Belt course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to an advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style.
