How to Get PMI-RMP Certified in BridgetownStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-RMP certification path in Bridgetown is a pure exam track: once your PMI application is approved, you proceed directly to the 115-question, 150-minute exam administered through Pearson VUE , no peer-panel review is required. From initial training to exam day typically takes 6-10 weeks, including application processing.

    Step 1: Confirm PMI-RMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets. Set A: high school or secondary school diploma (or global equivalent) + 36 months / 3 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 40 hours of project risk management education. Set B: bachelor's degree or higher (or global equivalent) + 24 months / 2 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Set C: bachelor's degree or higher from a GAC-accredited program + 12 months / 1 year of project risk management experience within the past 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Education hours must be in project risk management topics specifically.

Step 2: Enroll in a Learning Program

Choose a learning format that aligns with your schedule and goals, such as a PMI-RMP bootcamp, live virtual sessions, self-paced learning, or corporate group training. Enrollment provides access to PMI-aligned courseware, practice assessments, and expert-led guidance.

Step 3: Register on the PMI Candidate Portal

Create or sign in to your PMI account at pmi.org. PMI membership (~$139/year) is optional but reduces the PMI-RMP exam fee from ~$670 to ~$520 and gives access to the PMI Risk Management Practice Guide and the PMI Standard for Risk Management.

Step 4: Submit the PMI-RMP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal: document your project risk management experience, list your 30 or 40 contact hours, and pay the application/exam fee (~$520 PMI member or ~$670 non-member). PMI typically processes applications within 5-10 business days. Unlike PfMP, no peer-panel review is required.

Step 5: Sit the 115-Question PMI-RMP Exam via Pearson VUE

Once approved, you receive a one-year exam eligibility window. Book your PMI-RMP exam through Pearson VUE , online proctored from your home or office in Bridgetown, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is 115 multiple-choice and scenario questions over 150 minutes, covering all five risk management domains.

Step 6: Earn the PMI-RMP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PMI-RMP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 30 PDUs in risk-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Yes. It positions you for project risk manager, compliance and Head of Risk roles.

    General

Is the PMI-RMP certification worth it in Barbados?

Yes. The RMP is a globally recognised PMI credential that marks you as a project risk specialist, and demand is rising in Barbados as banks, insurers and a near US$1bn tourism and infrastructure pipeline seek professionals who can manage risk. It positions you for project risk manager, compliance and Head of Risk roles.

What is the PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)?

The PMI Risk Management Professional is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management. It recognises your ability to identify and assess project risks, mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities, setting you apart from general project management practitioners.

Who should take the RMP certification?

The RMP suits project risk managers, senior project managers, risk analysts, compliance officers, PMO staff and consultants who specialise in managing risk. It is ideal for professionals in high-risk sectors such as construction, financial services, energy and government.

Is a PMP required before the RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for the RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials are highly complementary.

How long is the RMP certification valid and how is it renewed?

The RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle and pay PMI's renewal fee.

    Pricing

What is included in the RMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support, plus the risk management education hours you need to apply. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing in your preferred format.

How much does the RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD under regional pricing, for reference around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; confirm the current figure on pmi.org. As the Barbadian dollar is pegged to the US dollar, budgeting is straightforward. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI when you apply, in USD under regional pricing. The training fee covers your preparation, courseware and support. Talk to a learning advisor to understand the full cost of certification.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing in Barbados?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, risk functions and delivery teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation in Barbados.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the RMP exam?

The RMP exam is closed book with 115 multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes), and it is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What domains does the RMP exam cover?

The exam covers five domains from the ECO effective January 2022: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%), and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the RMP exam the first time?

You are allowed up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our practice questions and mock exams are designed to prepare you thoroughly so you can sit with confidence; re-examination fees apply to later attempts.

What are the eligibility requirements for the RMP?

There are three routes. With a secondary diploma you need 36 months of project risk management experience in the last five years and 40 hours of risk education. The programme covers tools such as SWOT, the Delphi technique, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value.

Which standard and version is the course aligned to?
