Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified Scrum Product Owner, or CSPO, is a Scrum Alliance credential for professionals who own product value within a Scrum Team. It is designed for product owners, product managers, business analysts and business stakeholders who want to define product vision, manage the Product Backlog and maximise value.

    General

What is the CSPO certification and who is it for?

The Certified Scrum Product Owner, or CSPO, is a Scrum Alliance credential for professionals who own product value within a Scrum Team. It is designed for product owners, product managers, business analysts and business stakeholders who want to define product vision, manage the Product Backlog and maximise value.

Is the CSPO certification worth it in Lausanne?

Yes. Product owners are in steady demand across Lausanne's food, medtech, fintech and software employers, and Scrum Product Owner roles in the city average around CHF 123,848 a year. A Scrum Alliance credential signals you can own a backlog and maximise value, which strengthens your standing in the local market.

    Who awards the CSPO credential?

The CSPO credential is awarded by Scrum Alliance, the body behind the Certified Scrum Product Owner track. The course must be delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), and the credential is granted on successful completion of that course.

Do I need prior experience to take the CSPO course?

No formal education or work experience is required. The CSPO suits both newcomers to the Product Owner role and experienced professionals who want to formalise their product ownership knowledge with a recognised Scrum Alliance credential.

How long is the CSPO certification valid?

The CSPO is valid for two years from course completion. You renew it every two years by earning 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee.

    Pricing

How much does CSPO training cost in Lausanne?

CSPO course fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The fee includes Scrum Alliance-aligned training led by a Certified Scrum Trainer and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership. Request a quote for current Lausanne dates and pricing.

What is included in the CSPO course fee?

The fee typically includes trainer-led sessions delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer, structured courseware, practical exercises, the CSPO credential on completion, and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership with a digital badge. Talk to a learning advisor for full inclusions.

Is the Scrum Alliance membership fee included?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Certification

Is there an exam for the CSPO certification?

No. The CSPO has no examination. The credential is awarded directly by Scrum Alliance once you successfully complete an approved CSPO course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST).

How do I become CSPO certified?

Attend a complete Scrum Alliance CSPO course led by a Certified Scrum Trainer. On completion you accept the Scrum Alliance licence agreement through your member account, and the CSPO credential is activated. Self-study alone does not qualify.

What standard is the CSPO course based on?

The course follows the current Scrum Alliance CSPO learning objectives and is aligned to the Scrum Guide. It covers Scrum theory, the Product Owner role, product vision and Product Goal, backlog management, stakeholder collaboration and release planning.

How do I renew my CSPO credential?

Renew the CSPO every two years by earning 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. SEUs can be earned through training, conferences, coaching and self-study.

What comes after the CSPO in the Scrum Alliance track?

The CSPO is the first level of the Scrum Alliance Product Owner track. From there you can progress to Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO) and then Certified Scrum Professional, Product Owner (CSP-PO).

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the CSPO training?

The training covers Scrum theory and principles, the Product Owner role and accountabilities, product vision and the Product Goal, Product Backlog management, stakeholder collaboration and value, and release planning and forecasting, all aligned to Scrum Alliance learning objectives.

Are there practical exercises in the training?
