What Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification?Your Complete Route into Change Leadership

The Change Management Foundation & Practitioner Certification Course (CM-F&P) is a globally recognised qualification that validates your ability to manage the people and culture side of organisational change. Foundation confirms your knowledge of change management concepts and models, while Practitioner proves you can apply them to real change scenarios in Icelandic workplaces. Grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute and the current Change Management Practitioner Guide, the programme covers established frameworks including ADKAR, Kotter's 8-Step Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Bridges' Transition Model and the McKinsey 7-S Framework. You prepare for two separate exams: a closed-book Foundation exam and an open-book, scenario-based Practitioner exam. As banks, public bodies, food-tech and energy organisations across Iceland accelerate digital and operational transformation, employers increasingly value professionals who can drive adoption and reduce resistance. Build that capability and get certified with Invensis Learning.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

It is a globally recognised qualification covering the people and culture side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change management concepts and models, while Practitioner validates your ability to apply them to real change scenarios. It is grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK).

    General

What is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification?

It is a globally recognised qualification covering the people and culture side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change management concepts and models, while Practitioner validates your ability to apply them to real change scenarios. It is grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK).

Is the Change Management certification worth it in Iceland?

Yes. As banks, public bodies, food-tech and energy organisations across Iceland accelerate transformation, employers value professionals who can drive adoption. Change Manager roles average around kr 10.6M a year, with senior change leadership reaching far higher, and certified change professionals remain scarce.

    Who should take this course?

It suits project and programme managers, HR and OD practitioners, consultants, and leaders who sponsor or support organisational change. No prior change management knowledge is needed for the Foundation level, so it works for both newcomers and experienced professionals.

Do I need prior experience for the Foundation level?

No. Change Management Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all, regardless of education or experience. The Practitioner level requires the Foundation certification first, and the combined programme prepares you for both.

    Is the qualification recognised internationally?

Yes. The Change Management qualification is recognised in more than 150 countries and is especially well respected in the UK, Europe, Australia and markets where change management is an established profession, which makes it highly portable for professionals in Iceland.

    Pricing

How much does the Change Management course cost in Iceland?

Fees vary by delivery format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The combined programme is typically purchased as a training and dual-exam package. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote for Iceland.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across both levels, courseware aligned to the CMBoK and current Practitioner Guide, case studies, mock exams and practice questions, and learner support. Confirm the exact inclusions for your chosen batch when you enquire.

Are the exam fees included in the price?

Exam voucher inclusion varies by package. Many combined packages bundle the Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers, but this should be confirmed for your specific batch. Ask a learning advisor to confirm what is included before you enrol.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for change, PMO, HR and leadership teams across Iceland. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

Two separate exams. The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes, closed book, with a 50% pass mark (25 of 50). The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections worth 16 marks each (80 total) over 2.5 hours, open book, with a 50% pass mark (40 of 80).

What is the Foundation exam format?

The Foundation exam is closed book with 50 single-answer multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes. You need 50% to pass, which is 25 correct answers out of 50. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation portion of the training.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the Practitioner exam. However, the 5 scenario-based sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What standard is the exam based on?

The exams follow the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute, with the current Change Management Practitioner Guide as the primary reference.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam you did not pass. The training includes mock exams, practice questions and guidance to help you clear both levels on the first attempt. Re-sit policies vary, so confirm the details with a learning advisor when you enrol.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The programme covers the five change management topic areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management, at both knowledge and applied levels.

What change models will I learn?

You learn a broad range of models including ADKAR, Bridges' Transition Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model, the McKinsey 7-S Framework, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Cialdini's principles of influence.

Do I need prior experience to follow the content?

No prior change management experience is required. The Foundation content builds knowledge from the ground up, and the Practitioner content then develops your ability to apply that knowledge to realistic scenarios with trainer guidance.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive courseware aligned to the exam syllabi, industry-driven case studies, mock exams and practice questions for both levels, and open-book technique practice for the Practitioner exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest syllabus?

Yes. The materials are aligned to the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner syllabi, the CMBoK, and the latest Change Management Practitioner Guide, so you study the most up-to-date change management content.

How do I enrol in the course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. A learning advisor can help you pick the right batch.
