What Is the PgMP Certification and Who Is It For?Your Route into Programme Leadership

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits that single projects cannot deliver alone. Held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide, it is one of the most exclusive certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI). This instructor-led PgMP certification training in Reykjavik prepares senior professionals for the PgMP examination and the subject-matter-expert panel review. The programme is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the PgMP Examination Content Outline, covering the five performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance. As Iceland's energy, data-centre, fintech and biotech sectors scale complex multi-project initiatives, employers increasingly value leaders who can govern programmes and connect delivery to strategy. Whether you are moving up from project management or formalising programme authority, get PgMP certified with Invensis Learning and take the next step in your career.

How to Get PgMP Certified in ReykjavikStep-by-Step Certification Process

The path to Online PgMP certification is designed for experienced program leaders managing multiple related projects aligned to strategic business objectives. The certification process includes eligibility verification, PMI application review, peer-panel assessment, and the final certification examination.

    Step 1: Confirm PgMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets (Set A / Set B / Set C) , secondary diploma OR bachelor's degree OR GAC-accredited bachelor's, plus 48/48/36 months of project management (or PMP) experience plus 84/48/36 months of program management experience within the past 15 years.

Step 2: Enrol in PgMP Training

Choose your preferred Invensis Learning PgMP cohort (3-Day Live Online Bootcamp, E-Learning, or Corporate Group Training). On enrolment you receive PMI-aligned PgMP courseware, panel-submission templates, scenario mock-exam material, and the 24 contact hours you need for your PMI application.

Step 3: Document Program Management Experience for Panel Review

Compile your program management experience submission to PMI's evaluation standard: programs led, components managed, governance forums chaired, benefits delivered. Invensis Learning's submission templates and reviewer feedback help you avoid the common rejection patterns PMI flags.

Step 4: Submit the PgMP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal. PMI performs an initial review, then forwards the experience submission to the peer panel for evaluation. The panel-review window typically runs 60-90 days. Pay the PgMP application/exam fee: ~$800 (PMI member) or ~$1,000 (non-member).

Step 5: Sit the 170-Question PgMP Exam via Pearson VUE

After panel approval you receive a one-year exam eligibility window. Book your PgMP exam through Pearson VUE , online proctored from your home or office in Reykjavik, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is 170 scenario-based multiple-choice questions over 240 minutes.

Step 6: Earn the PgMP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PgMP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 60 PDUs across the 3-year cycle in program-relevant content.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PgMP is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMO leaders, delivery directors and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience. Fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide hold it.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The PgMP is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMO leaders, delivery directors and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience. Fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide hold it.

Is the PgMP worth it for programme leaders in Reykjavik?

Yes. As Iceland's energy, data-centre, fintech and biotech sectors scale complex initiatives, employers value leaders who can govern programmes and connect delivery to strategy. Senior programme roles in Reykjavik command strong salary bands, and the PgMP is a globally recognised marker of programme leadership.

What are the prerequisites for the PgMP?

There are three eligibility sets. Set A: a secondary diploma plus 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) and 84 months of programme experience. Set B: a four-year degree plus 48 months of project and 48 months of programme experience. Set C reduces these thresholds for a GAC-accredited degree. All experience must be within the past 15 years.

Is the PMP required before the PgMP?

No. The PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application and panel-review guidance, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for the current inclusions.

How much does PgMP training cost in Reykjavik?

Training in Reykjavik is priced in Icelandic krona and varies by format and cohort, so the current fee is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD, for reference around USD 800 for PMI members and USD 1,000 for non-members. Verify current fees at pmi.org, as PMI periodically updates pricing. Membership can reduce the exam and renewal costs.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams across Iceland. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 multiple-choice questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book and delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What domains does the PgMP exam cover?

The exam covers five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training and practice resources are designed to help you build readiness before your first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus preparation for the application, panel review and exam strategy.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so you study the framework and domains the exam is based on.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the five performance domains, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

Anyone can attend the training, and it is well suited to experienced professionals. To sit the PgMP exam, however, PMI requires substantial project and programme management experience under one of the three eligibility sets, along with the panel review.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PgMP application and professional development.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the PgMP course in Reykjavik?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor to pick the right batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style in Reykjavik.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the exam?

To sit the PgMP exam, PMI requires a secondary or four-year degree, project and programme management experience under one of three sets within the past 15 years, and a subject-matter-expert panel review. An active PMP can satisfy the project management experience requirement.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans allow you to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
