    What is the format of the Foundation and Practitioner exams?

    Both exams are closed book and multiple choice. The Foundation exam uses straightforward single-answer questions to test knowledge, while the Practitioner exam uses scenario-based questions that ask you to apply business analysis techniques to realistic project situations.

    How many questions are on each exam and how long is it?

    Each exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes. This applies to both the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You sit them as two separate examinations, and you must pass each to hold both credentials.

    What is the passing score for the exams?

    The passing score is 65% for both exams, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. The same threshold applies to the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam.

    How do the Foundation and Practitioner exams differ?

    Foundation tests knowledge and comprehension of business analysis concepts across 14 topic areas using single-answer questions. Practitioner tests application and analysis across 7 topic areas using scenario-based questions. Both are 40 questions in 60 minutes with a 65% pass mark.

    What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

    You can re-sit the exam you did not pass. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance to prepare you for a first-time pass, and selected plans offer a retake option. Confirm current re-sit policy with a learning advisor.

    Where can I take the EXIN BCS Business Analysis exams?

    You can take both exams online through EXIN's online proctored system, or at an EXIN accredited testing location. They are usually arranged through your training provider as part of the combined training and dual-exam package.

    Can a beginner take this course, or do I need experience?

    Beginners can take this course. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The Practitioner level builds on Foundation knowledge, and the combined programme guides you from concepts through to applying techniques, so no prior certification is required to start.

    What topics does the training cover?

    The training covers business analysis fundamentals, investigation and elicitation, requirements engineering, business process and requirements modelling, stakeholder analysis, strategy analysis and business case development, spanning the 14 Foundation topic areas and the 7 applied Practitioner topic areas.

    Which standard is the course aligned to?

    The course is aligned to the EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications, which are based on the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BCS BoK) and quality-assured by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
