Observability Foundation Certification Training in MongoliaYour Route to the DevOps Institute Credential

The Observability Foundation (OBSF) certification is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute that validates a working understanding of the concepts, practices and tools used to implement observability in modern IT systems. It is built on the Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge), which covers the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and distributed traces, alongside OpenTelemetry and service-level objectives. Delivered as instructor-led Observability Foundation certification training in Mongolia, this programme suits DevOps engineers, site reliability engineers, platform engineers and IT operations teams in Ulaanbaatar and across the country. As banks, telcos and government digital services move to the cloud, employers increasingly value professionals who can keep distributed systems reliable and observable. The exam is a 40-question, open-book paper completed in 60 minutes, with a 65% pass mark and online proctoring through PeopleCert. Earn a globally recognised, three-year credential and begin your observability journey with Invensis Learning.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Mongolia, approved to deliver official Observability Foundation training using accredited courseware and standards.

The Observability Skills You Will MasterMetrics, Logs, Traces and Beyond

This programme builds practical capability across the full Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge, so you can instrument systems, act on meaningful signals and keep distributed services reliable. By the end, you can apply the three pillars, OpenTelemetry and SLO-driven practice with confidence.

Observability Principles and the Three Pillars

Understand what observability is and how it differs from monitoring, and work fluently with the three pillars: metrics, logs and distributed traces. Learn why high-cardinality, high-context telemetry matters for cloud-native and microservices systems.

    Metrics, Logs and Distributed Tracing

Work with counters, gauges and histograms, apply structured logging and log aggregation, and follow requests across services with spans and trace context. Correlate all three signals to reach root cause quickly.

SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and Error Budgets

Define service-level indicators that reflect real user experience, set meaningful objectives, and use error budgets to balance reliability with delivery velocity. Connect SLOs to the SLA commitments customers rely on.

    OpenTelemetry and Telemetry Pipelines

Instrument services with OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions, and design telemetry pipelines that aggregate, transform and route data. Apply sampling strategies and manage the cost of high-cardinality data.

    Alerting Strategy and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to burn-rate alerting, design on-call rotations that reduce fatigue, and run incidents with clear runbooks. Practise blameless postmortems that turn failures into continuous learning.

    SRE, AIOps and Exam Readiness

See how observability underpins mature SRE practice, explore AIOps and anomaly detection, and prepare for the exam. Master the structure and timing of the 40-question, 60-minute open-book paper.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The exam is open book with single-answer, multiple-choice questions, based on the Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint. It is delivered online with PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and you have 60 minutes to complete it. It is an open-book paper, so the focus is on understanding and applying observability concepts rather than memorising them.

    What is the passing score?

The pass mark is 65%, meaning you must answer at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Our mock exams are mapped to this format to help you gauge readiness before exam day.

What topics does the exam cover?

The exam is built on the Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge: observability principles and the three pillars, metrics, logs and distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets, OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, alerting and incident response, and SRE and AIOps.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

Our training includes practice questions, mock exams and first-attempt guidance to give you the best chance of passing. If a resit is needed, the DevOps Institute re-sit policy applies; verify current details at devopsinstitute.com and ask our team about retake support.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the training?

You will learn to work with metrics, logs and distributed traces, define SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, instrument services with OpenTelemetry, design effective alerting, and run incident response and blameless postmortems, all aligned to the Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites, and the programme starts from observability fundamentals before moving to tooling and practice. Familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, but the training and hands-on examples build the knowledge you need.

How long is the training programme?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule format. It covers all exam topic areas and prepares you for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book paper.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive DevOps Institute-aligned courseware, industry case studies covering observability principles, SLIs, SLOs, distributed tracing and logging, practice questions and mock exams to reinforce your understanding.
