What Is the Observability Foundation Certification?Your Foundation for Reliable Systems

The Observability Foundation (OBSF) certification is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute that validates your ability to implement observability across modern, cloud-native systems. Observability Foundation certification training in Tanzania gives IT professionals the concepts, practices and tools to understand a system's internal state from its external outputs, so they can improve reliability, performance and incident response. Grounded in the DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge, the programme covers the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and traces, along with OpenTelemetry, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and modern alerting. As Tanzanian banks, telecoms and fintech platforms move to microservices and high-availability digital services, employers increasingly value engineers who can make complex systems observable. Whether you are a DevOps engineer, SRE, platform engineer or IT operations specialist in Dar es Salaam or beyond, this training prepares you for the open-book OBSF exam and equips you to apply observability at work. Start your observability journey with Invensis Learning.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Tanzania, approved to deliver official Observability Foundation training using accredited courseware and standards.

    General

Is the Observability Foundation certification worth it?

Yes. OBSF validates in-demand observability skills that Tanzanian telecoms, banks and fintech firms need as they scale high-availability services. It positions you for DevOps, SRE and platform roles that sit in the top tech pay bands, and it is a globally recognised, vendor-neutral DevOps Institute credential. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What is Observability Foundation and who is it for?

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a DevOps Institute credential that validates a foundational understanding of the concepts, practices and tools used to implement observability in modern IT environments. It is designed for DevOps engineers, SREs, platform engineers, developers, IT operations staff and technical managers.

Who offers the Observability Foundation certification?

The certification is offered by the DevOps Institute, a global professional body focused on advancing DevOps skills, with exams delivered through PeopleCert. Invensis Learning is a PeopleCert (DevOps Institute) Authorized Training Provider delivering aligned training.

How does observability differ from monitoring?

Monitoring tells you when something is wrong by tracking known signals, while observability lets you understand why, including novel failures you did not predict. It is built on three pillars: metrics, logs and traces, which together explain a system's internal state from its external outputs.

How long is the Observability Foundation certification valid?

The credential is valid for three years. It is renewed by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities within each three-year cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the OBSF course fee?

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam is open book with single-answer multiple-choice questions, based on the DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge. It covers the three pillars, SLIs, SLOs, OpenTelemetry, alerting and organisational practices.

How many questions are on the OBSF exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and a duration of 60 minutes (one hour). It is open book and uses single-answer multiple-choice questions.

What is the passing score for Observability Foundation?

The passing score is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Our mock exams and practice questions help you build readiness across all topic areas.

Are there any prerequisites for the OBSF exam?

No. Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is helpful but not required, which makes it accessible to professionals moving into reliability roles.

How and where do I take the exam?

The exam is delivered online, proctored through PeopleCert OnVUE, or at an authorised test centre, so you can sit it from home, office or a centre in Tanzania. You can schedule it once you are ready after training.

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation training cover?

The 16-hour programme covers six modules: observability principles and the three pillars; metrics, logs and distributed tracing; SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets; OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines; alerting and incident response; and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. Some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer builds concepts from the ground up with hands-on examples, so newcomers to observability can follow along confidently.

What is OpenTelemetry and is it covered?

OpenTelemetry (OTel) is the vendor-neutral CNCF standard for collecting telemetry, metrics, logs and traces, from software systems. It is covered in depth, including SDKs, collectors, semantic conventions, telemetry pipelines and sampling strategies.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive DevOps Institute-aligned courseware, industry case studies, practice questions, mock exams and topic-wise revision aids to prepare for the open-book OBSF exam and apply observability at work.

What are SLIs, SLOs and SLAs?

Service Level Indicators (SLIs) measure service behaviour from the user's view, Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are targets for those indicators, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are customer commitments. Error budgets, defined as 100% minus the SLO, balance reliability with delivery speed.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the OBSF course in Tanzania?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

How long is the Observability Foundation training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This covers all six modules and prepares you for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book exam.

Can I reschedule to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange a suitable date.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
