The Product Owner Skills You Will BuildFrom Product Vision to Release Planning

Skills covered in the CSPO course span the full Product Owner role, from product vision to release planning. By the end of the training, you can own a Product Backlog, engage stakeholders and lead value-driven delivery within a Scrum Team.

    Define a Compelling Product Vision

Craft and communicate a product vision and Product Goal that act as the north star for the Scrum Team, using techniques such as the product vision board and roadmap to connect strategy to delivery.

Own and Order the Product Backlog

Create, refine and order the Product Backlog around value, risk and dependencies, applying ordering techniques such as MoSCoW, cost of delay and the Kano model to focus the team on what matters most.

    Write Effective User Stories

Express product needs as user stories with clear acceptance criteria, using INVEST characteristics and story mapping to decompose epics into small, valuable, deliverable items.

    Maximise Product Value

Apply empirical Scrum thinking to make value-based product decisions, define different types of value and measure business outcomes rather than output, keeping the team focused on impact.

    Engage Stakeholders and Customers

Identify and manage stakeholders, gather feedback through the Sprint Review and customer discovery, and balance competing priorities with evidence rather than the loudest voice.

    Plan Releases and Forecast Delivery

Plan incremental releases using velocity-based forecasting, MVP and minimal marketable feature thinking, and communicate delivery forecasts and scope decisions to stakeholders transparently.
