What is the PMI-RMP certification?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying and assessing project risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities across projects and programmes.

Who should take the PMI-RMP certification?

It suits project risk managers, risk analysts, senior project and programme managers, risk consultants and PMO professionals who specialise in managing risk. It is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as construction, energy, defence and financial services.

Is PMP required before PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many PMI-RMP holders also hold PMP, as the two credentials are complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) system.

How much is the PMI-RMP exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; actual fees vary, so confirm current pricing at pmi.org. PMI membership, about USD 139 a year, lowers the exam fee and includes the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

What if I do not pass the PMI-RMP exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes structured exam preparation, practice questions and mock exams to help you feel ready. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts at pmi.org.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and lasts 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains?

Per the January 2022 ECO, there are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your one-year eligibility window.

Can a beginner take PMI-RMP training?

Anyone can enrol in the training to build risk skills and earn contact hours. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience plus risk education, so PMI-RMP suits professionals who already work with project risk rather than complete beginners.

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five ECO domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It spans qualitative and quantitative techniques across predictive, agile and hybrid projects.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The training is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, and references the PMBOK Guide and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, the standards the exam is built on.

Does the training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes. The programme provides 32 contact hours of risk management education, which fully satisfies the 30-hour requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add supplementary study.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 115-question, closed-book format, plus quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.
