How to Get Agile PM Certified in New ZealandStep-by-Step Certification Process

The path to Online Agile PM certification follows a structured two-exam route. There are no prerequisites for the Foundation examination. After completing the combined Foundation and Practitioner training, candidates progress through both certification exams to demonstrate their knowledge of Agile Project Management principles and practices. Most learners complete the process within 1 to 2 weeks after training.

Step 1: Complete the Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Training

Enrol in the Invensis Learning Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Certification training in New Zealand (5-Day Live Online Bootcamp, E-Learning, or Corporate Group Training). The integrated programme covers the Agile PM lifecycle, roles and responsibilities, project control, requirements, estimating, and risk management.

Step 2: Sit the Agile PM Foundation Exam

Take the Foundation exam: 50 multiple-choice questions, 40 minutes, 50% pass mark (25 of 50), closed book. Delivered online proctored from your home or office in New Zealand, or at an approved test centre.

Step 3: Earn the Agile PM Foundation Credential

On passing the Foundation exam, your Agile PM Foundation certificate is issued. The Foundation credential validates your knowledge of Agile project management fundamentals.

Step 4: Sit the Agile PM Practitioner Exam

Take the Practitioner exam: 4 objective-test questions, 2.5 hours, 50% pass mark (40 of 80 points), open book to the official Agile PM manual. The Practitioner exam is scenario-based and tests applied knowledge in realistic project contexts.

Step 5: Activate Your Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Credentials

On passing both exams, you earn both the Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner certificates. The Foundation credential is lifetime valid; the Practitioner credential typically has a 5-year validity, renewable via continuing professional development (CPD) or re-examination.

Step 6: Maintain Your Practitioner Credential

Maintain your Agile PM Practitioner credential by earning CPD points each year or by re-sitting the Practitioner exam before the 5-year validity expires. Foundation does not require renewal.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

AgilePM is a structured agile project management framework based on DSDM that lets you deliver projects iteratively while keeping governance and control. The combined course covers Foundation, at knowledge level, and Practitioner, at application level, and leads to two separate credentials.

    General

What is the AgilePM Foundation and Practitioner certification?

AgilePM is a structured agile project management framework based on DSDM that lets you deliver projects iteratively while keeping governance and control. The combined course covers Foundation, at knowledge level, and Practitioner, at application level, and leads to two separate credentials.

Who should take AgilePM certification training in New Zealand?

The course suits project managers, PRINCE2 holders, business analysts, delivery team members and anyone who leads or contributes to agile projects. It is ideal for professionals who want to add project-level agile governance to their delivery skills.

Is AgilePM worth it in New Zealand?

Yes. New Zealand's project market is agile-first, with roughly two-thirds of organisations using agile, and governed-agile roles such as Agile Project Manager and Delivery Manager average around NZ$130,000 to NZ$145,000. AgilePM is also recognised in over 150 countries.

Who owns and publishes the AgilePM framework?

The AgilePM framework is based on DSDM and is owned and published by the Agile Business Consortium, formerly the DSDM Consortium. The course is aligned to the current AgilePM Handbook and the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi.

Do I need prior experience to start?

No. AgilePM Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The Practitioner level requires the Foundation certification first, which the combined programme covers in sequence.

    Pricing

How much does AgilePM training cost in New Zealand?

Pricing is available on request and varies by delivery format and schedule. The fee typically includes AgilePM-aligned courseware, mock exams and trainer support. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options and batches.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee usually includes AgilePM-aligned courseware, case studies, mock exams and practice questions, trainer-led sessions, learner support and a course completion certificate. Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers are typically included in the package; confirm at enrolment.

Are the exam fees included in the training price?

Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers are typically bundled into the training package, but inclusions vary by plan. Ask a learning advisor to confirm what your chosen format covers before you enrol.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams, PMOs and transformation programmes across New Zealand. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the AgilePM Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and lasts 40 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation training.

What is the format of the AgilePM Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 4 scenario-based questions worth 15 marks each, 60 marks in total, and lasts 2 hours. It is open book, with the AgilePM Handbook permitted, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 30 out of 60 marks.

How many exams are in the combined programme?

Two separate exams. You sit and pass the Foundation exam first, then the Practitioner exam, to hold both credentials. The combined programme prepares you for both in sequence.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the AgilePM Handbook during the Practitioner exam. However, the scenario questions require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient handbook navigation and deep method knowledge both matter.

How is the AgilePM exam delivered?

Both exams are delivered through online proctoring or at an authorised test centre, typically at the end of each stage of training. Your trainer will guide you on booking and what to expect on the day.

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and technique guidance to build first-attempt readiness. Ask a learning advisor about the current re-sit policy for your chosen package.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the AgilePM course?

You will learn the eight AgilePM principles, the six-phase lifecycle and management products, the AgilePM roles, MoSCoW prioritisation, timeboxing, and planning, control and risk. Practitioner sessions add scenario-based application and tailoring of the framework.

What are the eight AgilePM principles?

Focus on the business need; deliver on time; collaborate; never compromise quality; build incrementally from firm foundations; develop iteratively; communicate continuously and clearly; and demonstrate control. The course shows how to apply each on real projects.

What is MoSCoW prioritisation in AgilePM?

MoSCoW stands for Must have, Should have, Could have and Won't have this time. It fixes time and cost while flexing scope, so all Must Haves are delivered, along with most Should Haves and as many Could Haves as time allows.

What is a timebox in AgilePM?

A timebox is a fixed-length period, typically 2 to 4 weeks, within which a defined scope of work is attempted. Time is fixed and scope is flexible via MoSCoW. The timebox lifecycle has four phases: Kick-Off, Investigation, Refinement and Closing.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest AgilePM syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current AgilePM Handbook published by the Agile Business Consortium and to the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. Foundation has no prerequisites and starts from first principles, so beginners can follow it. The training builds knowledge before the Practitioner sessions apply and tailor the framework, so you progress at a supported pace.

How do I enrol in AgilePM training in New Zealand?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.
