The Toyota Production System (TPS), developed by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo Shingo, is the origin of Lean manufacturing. Its two pillars, Just-in-Time and Jidoka, and its focus on waste elimination form the foundation of everything taught in this course.

Is there an exam for Lean Manufacturing training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste identification activities and manufacturing case studies during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after completing the one-day programme. No external credential is awarded, as the training focuses on practical, immediately applicable skills.

How am I assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, hands-on exercises such as waste walks, value stream mapping, 5S assessment, OEE calculation and Kanban sizing let you apply each tool to realistic scenarios throughout the day.

How long is the training?

The course runs for one day (eight hours), covering Lean foundations and TPS, the eight wastes, value stream mapping, 5S, pull systems and Kanban, JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and Kaizen, with exercises throughout.

Will the skills expire or need renewing?

No. Because there is no credential to maintain, the Lean skills you gain do not expire and require no renewal. They are immediately applicable to waste elimination and improvement projects in your workplace.

The syllabus spans six modules: Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes, value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems, Kanban, JIT and TPM, and standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and Lean culture.

What Lean tools will I learn to use?

You will learn value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban and pull systems, OEE and Total Productive Maintenance, SMED quick changeover, Heijunka levelling, Poka Yoke mistake-proofing, standard work and A3 problem solving, plus Kaizen facilitation.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. The programme is built around practical exercises, including a Gemba-based waste walk, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation and Kanban quantity sizing, so you apply each tool as you learn it.

Is the course only relevant to manufacturing?

It focuses on manufacturing, but many tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping and waste elimination apply to logistics, healthcare operations and service delivery too, so professionals from those areas also benefit.

What language and materials are used?

Training is delivered in English by experienced trainers, with materials, templates and exercises provided. It is available in live virtual, classroom and corporate on-site formats.
