How is learning assessed during the programme?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you practise DFSS tools such as VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA on realistic design scenarios, so you build applied skill throughout the day.

Is Design for Six Sigma a certification?

No. It is a practical training course, not a certification. There is no exam, no governing body and no credential to renew. The focus is on building design-quality skills you can apply immediately at work.

How long is the training and what is the format?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours), covering all six DMADV modules with concept explanations and hands-on exercises. It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. Formats include live virtual, classroom and corporate on-site.

Course Content

What topics does the Design for Six Sigma course cover?

The course covers DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, project charter), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept generation, Pugh matrix, Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation, design scorecard and transfer).

What is the DMADV roadmap?

DMADV stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. It is the most widely used DFSS methodology, guiding you from defining the project and customer requirements through to verifying that the finished design meets every CTQ before launch.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You practise the key tools on realistic product and process design scenarios, including a VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, a Pugh concept selection matrix and a Design FMEA worksheet, so the learning is applied rather than theoretical.

Which design-quality tools will I learn?

You learn Voice of the Customer capture, the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design with the P-diagram and Taguchi thinking, and design verification and validation.

Do I need software for the course?

No specialist software is required. The course covers Design of Experiments at awareness level and notes where tools such as Minitab support statistical analysis in DFSS projects, but the training focuses on the methodology and tools themselves.
