What framework is the training based on?

The training is rooted in the Toyota Production System developed by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo Shingo, and in the five Lean principles popularised by James Womack and Daniel Jones: identify value, map the value stream, create flow, establish pull and seek perfection.

Do I need prior Lean experience to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course introduces Lean tools from first principles. Prior manufacturing or production experience is helpful but not required, so professionals from across operations, quality and maintenance can attend.

How long is the programme?

The programme is delivered in one day, eight hours in total, covering Lean foundations, the eight wastes, value stream mapping, 5S, pull systems and kanban, JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, poka yoke and Lean culture, with hands-on exercises throughout.

Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste identification activities, manufacturing case studies and team discussion during the day.

Do I receive anything on completion?

Yes. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. There is no external credential or awarding body for this training; instead you gain a practical Lean toolkit you can apply immediately at work.

How is my learning assessed during the day?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you apply the tools throughout the day: waste walks, value stream mapping elements, 5S assessment, OEE calculation and kanban sizing, so you practise each skill on realistic production scenarios.

Will I be able to apply these tools straight away?

Yes. By the end of the day you can run a waste walk, sketch a value stream map, set up a 5S zone, design a simple kanban pull system, calculate OEE and plan a Kaizen improvement, all directly transferable to your own plant.

Is a completion record the same as a certification?

No. The completion record simply confirms you attended and completed the one-day programme. There is no exam, no external awarding body and no formal credential; the real value is the practical Lean toolkit you can use immediately at work.

What topics does the Lean Manufacturing training cover?

The course covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and kanban, JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, poka yoke and building a Lean culture.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout the day, including Gemba waste walks, VSM data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation and kanban quantity sizing, so you practise applying each tool rather than just hearing about it.

Can a beginner follow the content?

Yes. The course starts from first principles and builds up, so no prior Lean knowledge is needed. The tools are introduced clearly with real manufacturing examples, making it suitable for newcomers and experienced staff alike.

What materials are provided?

You receive structured course materials, references and templates that support step-by-step learning, along with the exercises and case studies used during the day. These help you apply Lean tools back on the shop floor.

Is the content relevant to non-manufacturing operations?

Largely yes. While the focus is manufacturing, tools such as 5S, waste elimination, value stream mapping and Kaizen apply to logistics, warehousing and other operational environments, so teams beyond the factory floor also benefit.
