    What is the format of the Foundation exam?

    The Foundation exam has 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions, lasts 60 minutes, and is closed book. The pass mark is 65%, which is 26 out of 40 correct. It tests comprehension of BA concepts across the topic areas in the EXIN BCS Foundation examination specification.

    How does the Practitioner exam differ?

    The Practitioner exam is also 40 questions in 60 minutes, closed book, with a 65% pass mark. The difference is that questions are scenario-based and test your ability to apply BA techniques to realistic project situations, rather than recall alone.

    Do I need the Foundation before the Practitioner?

    The EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level. The combined programme covers Foundation content first, then Practitioner, so you progress through both in a single learning journey.

    Where can I take the exams?

    Both exams can be taken online through EXIN's online proctored system or at an EXIN accredited testing location. They are typically arranged around your training so you can sit them when you are ready.

    Course Content

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is designed for those new to business analysis. The programme builds from core concepts to applied practice, with trainer support throughout, so beginners and career changers can follow comfortably.

    What topics are covered in the training?

    The course covers investigation techniques, requirements engineering, stakeholder analysis, business process modelling with BPMN, requirements modelling with use cases and UML, strategy analysis with PESTLE and SWOT, and business-case development with cost-benefit and investment appraisal.

    Is there practical, hands-on learning?

    Yes. The Practitioner level is scenario-based, so training uses case studies and exercises that apply BA techniques to realistic project situations, not just theory. You practise elicitation, modelling and business-case work as you learn.

    Is the courseware aligned with the current specifications?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner examination specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge, so what you study reflects what the exams assess.

    What materials will I receive?

    You receive EXIN-aligned courseware for both levels, practice questions, mock exams, and downloadable reference materials, along with trainer-led sessions and post-training learner support.

    How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

    You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to pick the right start date.

    What training formats are available?

    We offer live virtual instructor-led training, classroom sessions where available, and customised corporate group training. This lets you choose the format that fits your schedule and learning preference across Uganda.

    Are there any prerequisites to enrol?

    No. Anyone can enrol in the training. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites, and the Foundation is the recommended step before the Practitioner level, which the combined programme delivers in sequence.
