Is there an exam for this course?

No. Lean Manufacturing Training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, waste identification activities, case examples and team discussion during the day.

Do I receive proof of completion?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning that recognises the Lean manufacturing skills you have developed.

How are my skills assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you apply Lean tools through practical exercises such as waste walks, value stream mapping, 5S assessment, OEE calculation and kanban sizing on realistic production scenarios.

Will I be able to apply Lean at work afterwards?

Yes. You will be able to run waste walks, read and build value stream maps, lead 5S, design kanban pull systems, calculate OEE, write standard work and facilitate Kaizen improvements in your own operation.

How does this course differ from Lean Six Sigma training?

This is a focused, practical Lean manufacturing skills course with no exam or belt. Lean Six Sigma programmes combine Lean with the DMAIC statistical method over a longer format. This course gives you the core Lean toolkit you can apply straight away.

The course covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the five Lean principles, the eight wastes, value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and kanban, JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture.

Are there hands-on exercises in the training?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout, including waste identification, value stream data collection, 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation, kanban quantity calculation and standard work observation on realistic manufacturing scenarios.

What is the eight wastes (DOWNTIME) model?

DOWNTIME is a memory aid for the eight wastes of Lean: Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion and Extra processing. The course teaches you to spot and remove each one on the shop floor.

Does the course cover value stream mapping and 5S?

Yes. You learn to build current-state and future-state value stream maps and to apply the five 5S steps with visual management. Both are core tools introduced with worked manufacturing examples and exercises.

You receive structured course materials, reference guides and exercise templates that support the day and remain useful when you apply Lean tools back in your own operation.
