    What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

    The exam is closed book and contains 150 multiple-choice questions, with up to 15 additional unscored questions on some forms. You have four hours to complete it, and a reference document with all required formulas and tables is provided during the exam.

    What is the passing score for the Black Belt exam?

    You need a minimum of 580 points out of 750 to pass. Each scored question carries one mark, and the exam covers all five DMAIC phases, so broad mastery across Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control is the best preparation.

    How is the exam delivered and where can I sit it?

    You can take the exam online with web-based proctoring, available on demand 24/7, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. This flexibility means candidates in Costa Rica can sit the exam remotely or at a nearby centre, whichever suits them best.

    What is the exam application process?

    You review the Body of Knowledge, optionally take a non-proctored evaluation exam to check readiness, then purchase your exam voucher through the IASSC orders site and choose online proctoring or a test centre.
