Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD course?

No. This is a non-certification skills programme with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the one-day course.

Do I get a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, because QFD is a methodology rather than a certified qualification. The skills apply immediately and do not expire.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you practise throughout the day by building and interpreting your own House of Quality matrices, structuring Voice of the Customer data, and working through Kano classification and column importance exercises.

Is QFD linked to any governing body or standard?

QFD has no single awarding body. It sits within the wider quality management and Design for Six Sigma discipline and links to frameworks such as ISO 9001 design and development, APQP, DMADV and the Kano model. The course grounds you in the recognised QFD body of knowledge.

Will this help with my Six Sigma projects?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in the DFSS DMADV Measure phase and the DMAIC Define phase. The course gives Green and Black Belt practitioners the depth of QFD knowledge needed to translate the Voice of the Customer into CTQs and project scope.

What will I learn in the QFD training?

You will learn to capture and structure the Voice of the Customer, apply the Kano model, build all six rooms of the House of Quality, calculate column importance, resolve design conflicts in the correlation roof, and cascade QFD through Parts Deployment, Process Planning and Production Planning.

What topics does the House of Quality cover?

The House of Quality covers customer requirements and importance ratings, measurable engineering characteristics, the relationship matrix, the correlation roof, competitive technical benchmarking, and engineering targets. You build each room step by step on realistic product and service examples.

Does the course include hands-on practice?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day. You structure Voice of the Customer data with an affinity diagram, classify requirements with the Kano model, construct a full House of Quality, and identify design hot spots and conflicts from a realistic scenario.

Does QFD apply to services and software, not just products?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers its use in services such as healthcare and financial services, and in software design. The House of Quality applies anywhere customer requirements must be translated into design or delivery specifications.

How long is the QFD training?

The programme runs for one day, totalling eight hours. It can also be delivered as two extended half-days. It covers all six QFD modules, from foundations and Voice of the Customer through House of Quality construction, interpretation, four-phase cascading and real-world case studies.
