What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Kazakhstan?

Yes. Kazakhstan's oil and gas, mining, banking and infrastructure employers run large, uncertain programmes and value certified risk specialists. With mega-projects such as Tengiz FGP and Middle Corridor expansion under way, the PMI-RMP helps you stand out and access senior risk roles.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the credentials are complementary, but it is not required.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle and pay the PMI renewal fee.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline, whose current version took effect in January 2022. It is aligned to PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide, and covers predictive, agile and hybrid risk management.

How much is the PMI-RMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD under regional pricing, for reference around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members. Fees can change, so confirm the current amount on pmi.org before you apply.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the five PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

Per the January 2022 ECO, the five domains are Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where and how can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your one-year eligibility period.

What if I do not pass on my first attempt?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility window. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and revision support are designed to help you pass with confidence.

Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers the five PMI-RMP domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative techniques such as the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation and expected monetary value.

Does the training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes. The programme provides 32 contact hours, which fully meets the 30-hour education requirement for Set B and Set C candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least eight further hours of risk management education.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes aligned to the 115-question format, so you can find weak areas and build exam readiness.

Does the course cover agile and hybrid risk management?

Yes. Reflecting the January 2022 ECO, the training covers risk management across predictive, agile and hybrid delivery, so you can tailor your approach to both capital projects and fast-moving technology programmes.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

Anyone can attend the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and education under one of three eligibility sets, so the training suits professionals building toward that requirement.

There are three sets. Set A: a secondary diploma with 36 months of risk experience in the last five years and 40 hours of education. Set B: a four-year degree with 24 months and 30 hours. Set C: a GAC-accredited degree with 12 months and 30 hours.
