    What is the format of the EXIN BCS Business Analysis exams?

    Both exams are closed-book and multiple choice. The Foundation exam uses single-answer questions testing knowledge across 14 topic areas, while the Practitioner exam uses scenario-based questions testing applied technique across seven topic areas. Both are delivered online proctored or at accredited centres.

    How many questions are on each exam and how long is it?

    Each exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes. The Foundation exam is single-answer multiple choice, and the Practitioner exam is scenario-based multiple choice requiring you to apply business analysis techniques.

    What is the passing score?

    The passing score for both exams is 65 per cent, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. This applies to both the Foundation and the Practitioner examinations.

    Do I need to pass Foundation before the Practitioner exam?

    The EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level. In the combined programme you typically sit and pass the Foundation exam first, then take the scenario-based Practitioner exam.

    What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    Our training is designed to help you clear both exams on the first attempt, with mock exams and trainer guidance. If a resit is needed, EXIN allows re-examination; confirm the current resit policy and fee at exin.com. Selected plans also include a retake option.

    What topics does the training cover?

    The programme covers investigation techniques, requirements engineering, stakeholder analysis, business process and requirements modelling, strategy analysis and business case development. Foundation builds knowledge across 14 topic areas and Practitioner applies technique across seven scenario-based areas.

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is open to all, including those new to business analysis. The training builds from core concepts to applied technique, with practice and support throughout, so beginners can progress to Practitioner level.

    Which standard is the course based on?

    The course is based on the EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications, both aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge and developed in partnership with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

    Are practice tests and mock exams included?

    Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full mock exams aligned to both the Foundation and Practitioner formats, plus industry case studies, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

    Will I receive course materials?
