    What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

    The exam is a closed-book test of 150 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark, completed in four hours. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    There are 150 scored multiple-choice questions and you have four hours, or 240 minutes, to answer them. Non-native speakers and candidates with a disability may request an extra 60 minutes.

    What is the passing score?

    You need a minimum of 580 points out of 750 to pass. The exam is closed book, with a reference document of formulas and tables provided during the test.

    What standard is the exam based on?

    The exam is based on the IASSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge, structured around the five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. Question weighting is heaviest in the Analyse, Control and Measure phases.

    What is the exam application process?

    After preparing, you can optionally take the non-proctored evaluation exam to check your readiness, then purchase the exam voucher from the governing body. Choose online proctored delivery, available 24/7, or a Pearson VUE test centre, then schedule and sit your exam.
