Assessment

Is there an exam for QFD training?

No. Quality Function Deployment training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the course?

Yes. Participants receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after completing the one-day programme. The training builds practical QFD skills that are immediately applicable, with no external credential or renewal to maintain.

How is learning assessed on the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply what you learn through practical activities, building and interpreting a House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, so you can use the method at work straight away.

Will I be able to build a House of Quality after training?

Yes. By the end of the course you can capture the Voice of the Customer, construct a full House of Quality, calculate column importance, resolve design conflicts, and cascade QFD through parts, process and production planning.

Does QFD training support Six Sigma work?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in Design for Six Sigma (the DMADV Measure phase) and in DMAIC (the Define phase) for translating the Voice of the Customer into CTQs. The course shows how to apply QFD within both.

Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The one-day programme covers QFD principles and origins, Voice of the Customer capture (interviews, affinity diagram, Kano model), full House of Quality construction, interpreting the matrix, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

How long is the QFD training?

The course is delivered in one day (8 hours), or as two extended half-days totalling 8 hours. It covers all six QFD modules with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on House of Quality exercises throughout.

What is the Voice of the Customer in QFD?

The Voice of the Customer is the full set of customer needs, wants and expectations a product or service must satisfy. In QFD it forms the WHATs on the left of the House of Quality. The course teaches how to capture, structure and prioritise it using affinity diagrams and the Kano model.

Does the course cover service and software design?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers applying it to services such as healthcare and financial services, and to software, alongside product development. The House of Quality works wherever customer requirements must become design specifications.

What are the four phases of QFD?

The four-phase QFD system cascades customer requirements through Product Planning (the House of Quality), Parts Deployment, Process Planning, and Production Planning, creating traceability from every customer need to the controls that deliver it in production.
