The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry, and PMI-CP certification training in Zambia prepares you to apply project management skills across the full construction lifecycle. It validates your ability to deliver complex construction projects on time, within budget and to the required quality standard. The programme is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the current PMBOK Guide, covering four construction domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). You prepare for the 120-question, closed-book exam and learn to complete the four mandatory PMI-CP course modules that PMI requires before you apply. With Zambia's copper, rail, energy and building pipeline expanding under the Lobito Corridor and mining investment, credentialed construction project managers are in growing demand. Delivered live virtual, classroom and onsite, the training suits construction PMs, site managers and owner's representatives ready to lead at a higher level. How to Get PMI-CP Certified in ZambiaStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) certification path in Zambia is a structured single-exam track. You must complete the four-module training, document 3 years of construction or built-environment project experience earned within the past 10 years, then pass the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP exam delivered by PMI through Pearson VUE. From initial training to earning the PMI-CP designation typically takes 1-3 months.

Step 1: Confirm You Meet the PMI-CP Eligibility Requirements

Confirm you can document 3 years of on-the-job experience in construction projects or built-environment projects (infrastructure, real estate, utilities, etc.). The experience must have been earned within the past 10 years. There is no foundational PMI credential prerequisite for PMI-CP.

Step 2: Enroll in a Learning Program

Choose a learning format that aligns with your schedule and goals, such as a PMI-CP bootcamp, live virtual training, self-paced learning, or corporate group training. Enrollment provides access to PMI-aligned learning resources, study materials, and expert guidance.

Step 3: Submit Your PMI-CP Application via the PMI Candidate Portal

Create or sign in to your PMI account at pmi.org, complete the PMI-CP application, and document your training (32 contact hours) plus 3 years of construction project experience earned within the past 10 years. PMI membership (~$139/year) is optional but reduces the exam fee.

Step 4: Receive Application Approval and Register for the Exam

PMI reviews your application within ~5 business days. On approval, you receive eligibility to register for the PMI-CP exam through Pearson VUE. Your eligibility window opens for 1 year, during which you can attempt the exam up to 3 times.

    Step 5: Sit the 120-Question, 230-Minute PMI-CP Exam

Book a Pearson VUE slot , online proctored from home or office in Zambia or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam includes 120 multiple-choice and scenario questions across the four PMI-CP domains, delivered over 230 minutes. You receive your preliminary result at the end of the session.

Step 6: Earn the PMI-CP Designation and Plan CCR Renewal

After passing the exam, PMI issues your PMI-CP digital badge and certificate. The designation is valid for three years and is renewable via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning PDUs in construction and built-environment-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

    General

Is the PMI-CP certification worth it for construction professionals in Zambia?

Yes. The PMI-CP validates construction-specific project management skill that mining, EPC, rail and building employers in Zambia value as major projects scale. Construction project managers in Lusaka average around K165,500 a year, and certified leaders stand out in a competitive market. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What is the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP)?

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management skills across the construction lifecycle, tested through four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

    Who should take PMI-CP training?

PMI-CP suits construction project managers, site managers, project engineers, owner's representatives and construction consultants with project delivery experience. It is an advanced specialist credential for professionals ready to lead complex construction projects to a global standard.

Do I need a PMP before the PMI-CP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary: the PMP validates broad project management, while the PMI-CP validates construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within the three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, guidance on the four mandatory PMI-CP modules and the exam application, plus learner support and a course completion certificate. Request a quote for the current price in your region.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Zambia?

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, with lower rates for PMI members than non-members. Fees are set and periodically updated by PMI, so confirm the current amount at pmi.org before you apply.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing for PMI-CP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction, mining and infrastructure teams. Ask about corporate and group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes. Questions are distributed across the four domains, with Contracts Management the largest at 50 percent.

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced PMI-CP modules (56 PDUs in total) and meet one of three experience and education sets: Set A needs a secondary diploma plus 60 months of construction PM experience; Set B a bachelor's degree plus 36 months; Set C a GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months. All sets require 35 contact hours of PM education.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance are designed to build your readiness so you go in prepared. Reexamination fees apply and are set by PMI.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a published percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

Can I take PMI-CP training without senior construction experience?
