Is PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals here?

Yes. The Philippines has deep engineering talent but few globally credentialed construction managers, so PMI-CP helps you stand out. Is PMP required before PMI-CP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle. Helpfully, the 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, domain-focused revision, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI-CP application, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

For reference, the PMI-CP exam is about USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, billed by PMI and subject to change. PMI individual membership is around USD 139 per year and lowers the exam cost. Confirm current fees at pmi.org.

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with 120 multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How many questions and how long is the PMI-CP exam?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). Questions are distributed across the four PMI-CP domains, with Contracts Management the largest at 50 per cent of the exam.

What are the PMI-CP eligibility requirements?

You complete four mandatory self-paced modules plus one experience set: high school diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience; a bachelor's degree with 36 months; or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets need 35 contact hours of project management education, within the past 10 years.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Your result is set through psychometric analysis and reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get for the exam?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from the date your application is approved. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts; confirm the current amounts on the PMI store before scheduling.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order, each 6 to 10 hours: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, 56 in total, applicable to certification renewal.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current PMBOK Guide, along with construction industry-specific standards and practices referenced by PMI, so your preparation matches what the exam tests.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book format, plus domain-focused quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across all four domains.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned. These contact hours support the 35-hour project management education requirement for PMI-CP eligibility.
