What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in San Juan?

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the two credentials complement each other, but PMI-RMP stands on its own as a specialist qualification.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle and pay the PMI renewal fee.

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours across all five domains, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

For reference, the PMI-RMP exam is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, and prices can vary by region. PMI membership of about USD 139 per year lowers the exam fee and provides free access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. Confirm current fees at pmi.org.

Is the exam fee included in the course price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately under its own pricing. The training fee covers your preparation, courseware and support, while you pay and schedule the exam directly through PMI and Pearson VUE.

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and lasts 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions, and is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (effective January 2022) defines five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get if I do not pass?

You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts with PMI before rebooking.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five domains of the 2022 Examination Content Outline: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks, plus risk tools and exam strategy across predictive, agile and hybrid projects.

Does the training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes for most candidates. The programme provides 32 contact hours, which fully satisfies the 30-hour education requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A (secondary diploma) candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more.

What tools and techniques will I learn?

You will learn identification tools such as SWOT, Delphi and prompt lists; qualitative tools including the probability-impact matrix; and quantitative methods such as expected monetary value, decision trees, sensitivity analysis and Monte Carlo simulation.

Is the courseware aligned to the current exam?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, so your preparation matches what the exam tests today.

Do I need prior experience to follow the training?

You do not need prior experience to follow the content, as the trainer builds each domain from the ground up. To sit the exam, however, PMI requires documented project risk management experience and education under one of its three eligibility sets.

PMI offers three sets: Set A (secondary diploma) needs 36 months of risk experience in the last 5 years plus 40 hours of education; Set B (bachelor's) needs 24 months plus 30 hours; Set C (GAC-accredited degree) needs 12 months plus 30 hours. Experience must be specific to project risk.
