Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified ScrumMaster, or CSM, is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values that make agile teams effective. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, developers and testers on Scrum teams, and project managers moving into agile.

    General

What is the CSM certification and who is it for?

The Certified ScrumMaster, or CSM, is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values that make agile teams effective. It suits aspiring Scrum Masters, developers and testers on Scrum teams, and project managers moving into agile.

Is the CSM worth it for professionals in Honolulu?

Yes. Scrum Master roles in Honolulu average around $107,000 a year, and demand is steady across defense, government, banking, and healthcare employers modernizing their systems. Because certified agile talent is scarce locally, the CSM helps you stand out.

Do I need to attend a course to earn the CSM?

Yes. Attendance at a Scrum Alliance approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) is mandatory. You cannot access the CSM exam without completing an approved course first.

Is the CSM recognized in Honolulu and worldwide?

Yes. The CSM is the world's most widely recognized Scrum Master credential, with over one million certificates issued. It is valued by Honolulu employers and by organizations across every sector and country.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle.

Which Scrum Guide is the course based on?

The course is aligned with the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. That edition introduced the Product Goal and framed the Sprint Goal and Definition of Done as commitments.

    Pricing

How much does CSM training cost in Honolulu?

CSM training fees vary by format and schedule, and the CSM exam is typically included in the course fee paid to the training provider. For current Honolulu pricing, request a quote and a learning advisor will share the options that fit you.

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The fee typically covers Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, instruction by a Certified Scrum Trainer, practice questions, learner support, and access to the online CSM exam. Passing the exam also includes a two-year Scrum Alliance membership.

Is the CSM exam fee included in the training?

For CSM, the exam fee is usually bundled into the course fee paid to the training provider, so you are not billed separately by Scrum Alliance for your first attempts within the access window. Confirm the exact inclusions when you request a quote.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customized schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams, PMOs, and departments. Contact us for a tailored quote for your Honolulu team.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions, and you have 60 minutes to complete it. It is taken online after you finish an approved CSM course.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You need 74% to pass, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The open-book format lets you refer to your materials during the exam.

What if I do not pass the CSM exam on the first attempt?
