    What is the format of the Foundation exam?

    The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice, single-answer questions to be completed in 40 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 25 correct out of 50. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation portion of the training.

    What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

    The Practitioner exam has five scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, completed in 2.5 hours. It is open book, with the Change Management Practitioner Guide permitted, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

    How many exams are there in the combined programme?

    There are two separate exams: the closed-book Foundation exam and the open-book, scenario-based Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials, and the combined programme prepares you for each level.

    What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

    The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam. However, the five scenario-based sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential, and we practise both.

    What are the prerequisites for the exams?

    The Foundation exam has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The Practitioner exam requires the Change Management Foundation certification first, so the combined programme is designed to be taken sequentially, Foundation then Practitioner.

    What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

    You can retake the exam, and our trainers provide guidance to help you prepare for both levels on the first attempt. Speak with our team about re-sit support and current re-examination policies for each exam.

    Course Content

    What topics does the change management course cover?

    The course covers five topic areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation builds knowledge; Practitioner applies it to real change scenarios.

    Which change models will I learn?

    You will learn a broad range of models, including ADKAR, Bridges' Transition Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model, the McKinsey 7-S Framework, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Cialdini's principles of influence.

    Do I need prior experience to take this course?

    No. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is suitable for professionals at any career stage. It is a strong starting point for project managers, HR and OD practitioners, consultants and leaders who are new to structured change management.

    How long is the training?

    The combined Foundation and Practitioner programme is delivered as 40 hours of instructor-led training. The number of days depends on the schedule format, with Foundation content covered first and Practitioner content building on it.

    What learning materials are provided?

    You receive CMBoK-aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies, practice questions and mock exams for both levels, and revision aids. The materials support both the closed-book Foundation exam and the open-book Practitioner exam.
