Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

It is a two-level qualification that validates your ability to lead the people side of organizational change. Foundation confirms your knowledge of change models and concepts, while Practitioner proves you can apply them to real change scenarios. It is grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK).

    General

What is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification?

It is a two-level qualification that validates your ability to lead the people side of organizational change. Foundation confirms your knowledge of change models and concepts, while Practitioner proves you can apply them to real change scenarios. It is grounded in the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK).

Is the Change Management certification worth it for New Haven professionals?

Yes. New Haven employers in healthcare, life sciences, insurance and higher education run constant transformation and value people who can drive adoption. Certified change professionals in Connecticut earn strong salaries, with consultants averaging around $105,700 and managers around $118,500.

    Who should take this certification?

It suits project managers, HR and OD practitioners, consultants, transformation leads and leaders who sponsor change. There are no formal prerequisites for Foundation, so it is open to professionals at any career stage who want a recognized change management credential.

Who governs the Change Management qualification?

The qualification is based on the Change Management Body of Knowledge maintained by the Change Management Institute, with the Agile Business Consortium behind the scheme. Training aligns to the current Change Management Practitioner Guide and the official Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi.

How is this different from a project management certification?

Change management covers the people and culture side of change, such as stakeholder engagement, communication and resistance, which project frameworks do not cover in depth. It complements credentials like PRINCE2 to give you a complete delivery and adoption toolkit.

You can retake it. Our program includes mock exams, practice questions and exam technique to prepare you for a first-time pass, and selected plans include a retake option. Confirm the current resit policy with our team.

How is the Foundation exam structured?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions to answer in 40 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 50 percent, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation portion of the program.

How is the Practitioner exam structured?

The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections worth 16 marks each, 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, so the Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted, and the pass mark is 50 percent, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam. However, the scenario questions require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. The program teaches efficient guide navigation alongside the underlying methods.

How and where do I take the exams?

Both exams are delivered by online proctoring or at an authorized test center. The Foundation exam is typically taken at the end of the Foundation stage and the Practitioner exam at the end of the Practitioner stage of the program.

Which standard are the exams based on?

The exams are based on the official Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) and the current Change Management Practitioner Guide from the Change Management Institute.

What topics does the training cover?

The training covers five topic areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organization, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. You study each at Foundation level, then apply them in Practitioner scenarios.
