What is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification?

It is a combined change management qualification that validates your ability to lead the people and culture side of organizational change. Foundation covers change concepts and models, while Practitioner validates applying them to real scenarios. Both are aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) and the Change Management Practitioner Guide.

Who should take this change management course in Sacramento?

Is change management certification worth it in Sacramento?

Yes. Certified change managers in Sacramento average around $141,000, and senior roles reach well beyond that, according to 2026 salary data. As employers modernize systems and ways of working, credentialed change practitioners are in demand and well paid.

Do I need experience or prerequisites to start?

Which change management models does the course cover?

The course covers the models employers rely on, including ADKAR, Kotter's 8-Step Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, McKinsey 7-S and Bridges' Transition Model, plus Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Cialdini's principles of influence.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, with the Change Management Practitioner Guide permitted, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

How many exams are there in the combined program?

There are two separate exams, the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials. The combined program prepares you for each, in sequence, within one 40-hour course.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

It means the Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam. However, the scenario-based sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

You can prepare for a resit. Our trainers provide exam-technique guidance, mock exams and practice questions to support a first-attempt pass, and can advise on the retake process. Confirm the current resit policy with a learning advisor.

Which standard are the exams based on?

Both exams are based on the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) from the Change Management Institute and the Change Management Practitioner Guide.

    Course Content

What topics does the change management course cover?

Are practice tests and mock exams included?
